If we can get a replacement and they pay enough up front take the ten or even something close and the ten if they reach the play offs and he plays. However, we need a suitable replacement or they’re not making us competitive.

That surcharge is fine if we don’t leave a striker shaped hole in the squad again.

I am sure that he would be well insured so his value would not be a total loss .

I'm surprised we're getting offers north of 5 mil considering his injury status. I'd definitely sell for anything approaching 10 considering how much we paid for him and his refusal to sign a contract with us.

Short was the problem. Moyes didn’t have a chance, but still made some odd decisions (Everton players)

Great player and done well for us but he's 27 and coming back from a bad injury. He's at his peak years so he's not going to be worth much more than that in 2 years time. Soton aint going to make money on him.His game is very much based on his mobility and workrate so unlikely he will get faster or fitter. He's played a handful of games at this level and is still very unproven really. Let's see what happens but I'm not particularly concerned that we are losing someone who could potentially be worth 30m in a year or two

Didn't someone say their owner lent the club £400m?

don't know if it was that much but that was for a stadium and training ground

but actual player buys from 2011 to 2017 it was about 12m on players

Being reported Ross County get 12% of any fee - this needs taken into account.

We should be saying £12m or FECK AFF!!

I can see your point of view but if we get Rusyn we've got him Hemir and Mayenda fighting over one spot. I'd say it's a risk but a calculated one and definitely not a massive failure.

I do also think that if we sell Stewart we'll have a loan deal lined up for sure.

Moyes gave up virtually the minute he took the job. By the time we got to relegation it looked like the players hadn't been coached for months.
Nobody else seems to remember this disgusting dereliction of duty.

There's 2 key questions for me:

    1) will he sign a contract?

    2) can we get a replacement in?

If the answer to 1 is no and the answer to 2 is yes, then I think selling him is the realistic option.

Just hypothesising that we spent the money on Cannon (I know he has a lot of suitors), then by the end of the window we would have Cannon, Rusyn, Hemir and Mayenda all owned by the club and under contract for 3-5 years.

Our striker situation will have gone from a long term crisis to potentially the strongest we've seen it depth wise and with a very high ceiling given the room for development.

If however, he will sign a contract or we can't get a replacement, then we keep him.

Because he's 1 of the best strikers in the division, Southampton are getting a great player if he goes there

Whatever Stewart goes for will be undisclosed but doubt it'll be much more than 6m

another one as-well i've seen people say Brentford, add in Brighton

Brighton 6 years net spend 12m
Brentford 7 seasons net spend was actually
    -85m

so brentford made about 85m on players
