Hopefully he doesn't pick up a serious injury ...

... then we can go through all this again in January <laugh>

we have an inbuilt self destruct button at our club, RS wants a 4 yr deal we offered 2 years, on decent wages considering his injury record. we should have sorted this deal out weeks ago.
I think sometimes players and agents greed will kill the game for teams outside the prem.

Sorry Bob, don't agree with that at all.

It has taken some time but KLD is gradually weeding out the hangers on and the bad practices ...

... the progress we've made, so far, is commendable.

No point dwelling on the past mate, he’s going…onwards and upwards.

I wouldn’t have offered more than 2 years anyway. 4 years would have put him what, nearly 32, which with his injury record isn’t worth the risk.

i don’t understand how this equates to SAFC self-destructing? The game is, we’re holding out, thankfully. **** Stewart and his agent

So how do we have a in built self destruct button, when you have just said we have offered him good money and a 2 yr deal for a injured player!

I can understand the reticence to offer 4 years given his injuries. Surely a compromise where he gets an extension after x number of games could have been reached? Odd that this is coming up now when the narrative for the last 12 months has been about wages

Four years on better money for Stewart ....

... and how many injury free games would we get out of him.

Nah, get him gone and bring in someone with his heart in the club.

I’ve seen this so many times since the fifties, players thinking they’re bigger than the club.
There haven’t been many players that left under similar circumstances, (offhand I an only think of McCoist that was in Scotland, Dave Watson and Hendo) that have gone on to better things, SAFC survived.
If RS wants to go then we will move on, he will never play at a bigger club than Sunderland, I would prefer him to stay.

If any of this is true then I think they must be close to what we will accept and we are just delaying our acceptance until we get a replacement in :emoticon-0148-yes:

Just angling for the best money possible. I expect movement tomorrow and he will be away.

It's went on too long. If he wanted to sign he would have. I do think that second injury killed the chances of the deal getting done. I will be happy with 7-10m like.

anywhere near £10m is a good deal for us considering the position we find ourselves in. Which, frankly, I put no blame at the club in. His injury fecked it.

20 pages today, calm down lads <laugh> is it all Stewart stuff or has there been whisperings of an incoming as well?

On RS, if we can get £10m I'd snap their hands off. To be honest, £7.5m is decent money for him (depending how it is structured)

Absolutely. Can not get demanding daft contracts when you have been on the treatment table for the best part of 18 months. Just not going to happen. Shame, poorly advised.

If he gets fit it's a great deal for saints. Like I said previously. Just a perfect storm and the club have to get max possible given contractual situation.

I am certain he would have left 3 weeks ago but funny enough Tones comments about being no where near fit might have got us extra with the deadline day surcharge
