Funny thing about Matt…superb player, but always looked clumsy. Any Saints fan would recognise him from his style of running from 5 miles away.
Should have checked as I was very surprised to see him linked to Spurs - thought his agent had done one hell of a job!
I thought Musk the super genius was putting a stop to this kind of thing. Are spurs even after a winger? What clubs who can afford 30m are ?
If we really are sticking to £30m (or even €30m) then his agent is still going to have to do a hell of a job
You mean … his value? Or less than that given the 3 years left on his deal: https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/armel-bella-kotchap/profil/spieler/467563 Such cheap skates. They rake in fortunes including this very summer and try to low ball. They are usually held up as a club that does things right but they are basically trying to pull a Liverpool here
If Stewart was a replacement for Mara or Onuacho, I'd be very happy. But if he's a replacement for Che, I'd be largely underwhelmed.
It seems we have bid despite indication from Russ that there is no current interest in Che. Which might mean we get him regardless and if Che leaves late on as other clubs either come into funds and/or run out of their higher priority options we bring someone else in Worth noting the three strikers mentioned playing in Scotland all have euro matches to get through first. And I think the odds are against both teams going through
The challenge with strikers when you play a one striker system is getting suitable back up. If Che goes and we sign Stewart, which player who can play a similar role will join as back up ? I’ve mentioned before but the sorts of strikers good at hold up play aren’t usually also ones who can cover on the wings. I actually think Che and Stewart could play together in our system but I don’t know the same about the two more target orientated players from Aberdeen (not Duk) and Hearts. No idea how effective a hold up player Duk is. He seems another more like Adam Armstrong
