According to that Peter O'rourke - Personally would have liked to see him come back to us

Just seen a tweet saying ‘The shortsightedness of those in charge is staggering’ and it’s got me in disbelief. Absolutely everything the club are doing is for the long term, infact I don’t think I could name a shortshighted thing they are currently doing. Surely keeping Stewart would be shortsighted thing to do?

If that's the case I'd rather stay as we are, I'm enjoying it ...

... you need the owner to be a multi-billionaire to even get close to the top.

Everton have shown how easy it is to spend a billion to get nowhere.

People would be saying that if we keep him, he doesn't recover well and ends up at Wigan ...

... "Why didn't the club take the money when it was on the table?'

Other teams do it. We cannot be in the situation at 11pm on Friday where we sell Stewart and have no time to bring in a replacement.

Let Stewart speak to Southampton, let him pass a medical and agree terms, but we don't press the button on the deal until we have our own signing(s) through the door. Would be utter madness to let him go without a replacement

    Lamine Kone rings a bell.

£8.5m for a 26/27 year old striker who’s never played above championship level with a year left on his contract is great business. If Stuttgart were willing to pay £10m for Ekwah I would’ve snapped their hand off and spent the money on a decent natural CDM anarl but I played too much football manager so I love a player sale :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Unless the club have been working on targets on the quiet from journo's and no leaks coming out of the club, then I suspect that at this late stage this could well be the case

sunderland/southampton/everton link has hovered around for a while, getting to the end of the window and it seems to have taken 'new legs' and basically means we all get and lose a striker...from my point of view we could well get the better deal, possibly us holding it up until we get enough to cover cannon?

would be strange for teams to try and establish new buys and sales unless precautions have been taken.

I used to spend about a week in the transfer windows then blast through the season as quick as I could to get back to spending my life scouting Brazilian Serie A under 21 teams :emoticon-0102-bigsm

What are peoples thoughts on Tom Cannon.
    Am I missing something
Have looked at a few clips but can't see an £8m player. Looks very average.
Certainly not that extra dimension that Stewart offers

    Ha!
But , while there might always be some truth in this kind of idea, if the dog's wag is wagging the dog, it's not a dog you'd want.

Teams can survive in the PL without spending stupid people. Its about forward planning and signing the right players, then selling them n reinvesting in better players. Then once you get to n stay in the PL you can start to spend money.

I always want us to be the best team possible however the PL is the be all n end all. I want us to play great football, give youngsters a chance and show ambition. Ambition isnt always just spending money, its doing things differently to try n be successful. We are doing all of that

Football is being ruined by the money but there will also be a place for teams that think out the box and recruit well
