I said somewhere after last week that Rutter will excel in open spaces. I haven't watched today's game bt it sounded end to end with lots of space to attack. That's his strength.
Looked a different player because he had Piroe playing just off him as 10. Some good link up play between them as Rutter put Piroe through on goal which brought a great save from their keeper. Also scored a great individual goal. Superb performance.
We allowed them to have the midfield today but for me we didn’t press as we should, so either I’m wrong or we cannot afford to have only Ampadu and Gray in the middle, there will be times we need that extra body or one of Giorginio, Sinisterra or Gnonto to work harder in the middle?
Farke takes blame for Drameh screw up, but in his first competitive appearance for Leeds this season he must be gutted coming on as a LB out of position against Burns. I thought he made a few good interventions after a dodgy start but it ended badly for him
Was it the signing of Piroe that was the spark yesterday that got our season going? I think having Gnonto and Sinisterra back also helped but Piroe and Giorginio together were brilliant and the players knowing they have Piroe to hit the target must breed confidence
Even with the loans out, we easily had the best front line in the Championship and Farke said on day one, the transfers will come towards the end of August. What we didn’t realise at the time were the loans out had deadline dates. The difference yesterday was having the best attack in the championship all being available together with some new squad additions and Farke being able to spend time on the training pitch with them. It’s only going to get better !!!!
Or worse depending on full backs because we need two. Plus better teams will hammer us if our wingers do not defend better.
No you are not wrong better teams will by pass our 2 mids and run at Ayling or the current left /non left back.
Better teams, we were away to a very good Ipswich side who were top of the league, the team that a few moaned about as they supposedly beat us to the signing of Brandon Williams, a LB we were after who was introduced in the second half and got absolutely skinned by Sinisterra for the 4th goal Nothing personal mate, I keep seeing lots say "Better teams" who are they then? If the window closes and we still have Gnonto, Summerville, Sinisterra and new boy Piroe NOBODY is going to face such a lethal attacking lineup in this division. We had a makeshift team against WBA they rolled Boro over 4-2. We were all over Cardiff how they never conceded at least 4 against us is a mystery, they beat Wendies 2-1. Birmingham who were fortunate as we really struggled to make a team beat Plymouth 2-1 Ipswich had already beaten Sunderland, QPR and Stoke, before yesterday Ipswich had conceded 1 goal in 4 games, we shouldn't fear anyone, I said on day one we will go up as Champions
I see only two teams we will face likely to be better than Ipswich were yesterday, Southampton and Leicester. Yes, both have sold players for significant money but will they spend it because, at the moment both are weaker than they were last season.
7 points off the top and we play sheff weds next. They have lost all four games so far. One nil would do me but we must beat them as they are rubbish.
I honestly didn't think that Ipswich were that much, better than what we've faced and yes they are a well drilled unit but you would expect that after the time most of their players have played together. I think Farke set us up in a calculated way that gave us the opportunity to attack a team that so obviously was not going to sit back and they took that bait. Yes it gave them the midfield and exposed our weakness at FB but their quality in front of goal was lacking and we made them shine with errors that will hopefully be sorted this week.
Wouldn't it just be football to win away at the 100%/top of the league side and then lose at home to bottom
Some issues coming up for the club, providing we don’t lose Suni or Willy next week: When Firpo is fit does he play When will the club decide Cooper and Ayling cannot do it any more When will players in the fringes be loaned/sold Gelhardt Greenwood Bate Hjelde Shackelton
One man will have been very happy yesterday and must be fairly unique as a football agent, having so many of his players on the pitch yesterday. Hayden Evans looks after Charlie Cresswell, Archie Gray, Shackelton
