Clearly someone at City feels a peace offering needs to be made in advance of the weekends game.
Reports in todays papers reckon de Long has written to HBA offering an apology. Mmmmm

Not sure he has the compassion to think of this himself, considering it might have meant more if it had been written like a YEAR ago!

City, however, have always backed De Jong, arguing that the midfielder does not deserve the reputation that comes from the now-infamous kick into the ribs of Xabi Alonso in the World Cup final and his tackle that broke Stuart Holden's leg during a friendly against the USA in March last year. DeLong complained " the Ben Arfa incident was blown out of all proportion".........<doh>

Two broken legs and a studs up flying kick to the ribs. How he doesn't have a bigger reputation is surprising to me.

If it's true that he/Man City/whoever involved has chosen to apologise now, then that is dispicable. Obvious attempt at mind games ahead of the match and a whole year overdue.

Pathetic attempt to win some support, I hope if Ben Arfa does play he scores, leaving de Jong on his arse.

This is just a PR stunt/mind game, he apparently didnt see anything wrong with his tackle a year ago.

I did, I was at the game and it should have been an instant red. The ref was as bad as deJong.

I don't see much wrong with the tackle. Unfortunate more than anything.

Seemed over the top and unneccesary to me, he was clearly trying to leave a mark so he Benny wouldn't get too confident, but ****ed his leg up instead.

The intent behind it was poor (which I think is more Mancini's fault) but the tackle was fine, imo

I fully agree with this... The world of football is well known for its fair tackles which almost always result in broken legs... If anything Ben Arfa should apologise for having brittle bones, or at least his nursery school milk lady should be issuing a formal statement of regret... Let's put pressure on her to resign...

Caution, this post may contain sarcasm and Tom's foolery...

Exactly why I think it's Man City PR stunt. Idiot thinks he came off worse as he felt his family were victimised as a result of the negative press.

Yeah, it was an OK tackle, maybe a bit hard but within the laws of the game IMO. Still doesn't change the fact he is a dirty player though.

He's spoken to Hatem and he's agreed to talk to him after the match.

    Words of Pardew.

I think Hatems going to start

For anyone who doesn't see much wrong with the tackle, take a look at where the ball is and then where De Jong is looking! Awful challenge, a straight red!****!

When we're winning, bring Perch on for the final minute and let him break de Jongs leg. Perchinho will happily take one for the team, even if it means a red card.....
