Ipswich Town v Leeds Utd Saturday 26th August @15:00hrs |Portman Road Leeds welcome Wilfred Gnonto and Luis Sinisterra back to the first team squad, for the visit of top of the table Ipswich Town on Saturday afternoon. Whilst Gnonto's absence has been well documented, it was widely speculated that Sinisterra would be omitted from both the visit to Ipswich, and next weeks League Cup game against Salford City, as he prepares for a move away from Elland Road. During Thursday lunchtime's press conference, Daniel Farke made a point of stating that the Colombian International, was both back in the first team squad, and available to play. Their presence will certainly lift the spirits, both in the Leeds dressing room, and on the terraces. Joe Gelhardt has a shoulder injury, but it hasn't stopped him from training this week, whilst Leo Hjelde returns to the squad after a concussion, and will fight it out with Sam Byram for the left back berth. Dan James has a slight groin strain, and it remains to be seen whether he makes the trip to East Anglia. Junior Firpo, Liam Cooper, Patrick Bamford, Stuart Dallas, Ian Poveda and Mateo Joseph remain sidelined. The tractor boys have ploughed their way past Sunderland, Stoke, and QPR on their way to the Championship summit, and are firm favourite for the win. Leeds may be desperate for their first league win of the season, but theoretically, the pressure is off, which could work in their favour. The two teams last played each other during the 2018/19 season, the same season Ipswich were relegated. Leeds won at Elland Road quite comfortably (2-0) whilst Ipswich edged a 3-2 with a stoppage time winner at their place, but it was not enough to keep them up. Leif Davis returns against the club he spent four years at, applying his trade. He moved to Portman Road a year ago for a fee of £1m. Last season he netted three times, and provided 14 assists. He already has a 'Whoscored' this season of 7.21, higher than all, but two Leeds players.
Sadly I’ll be just home in time to watch this. Hopefully grab a result to lift the post holiday blues
So are we cursed because none of our front players can stay fit. Dan James is now out after his one decent game. Leeds need wingers now to come back in as Poveda is out too. So who have we fit that is any good?. Rutter is no striker so must be a winger so does he start.
Had the pleasure of walking up from beach today behind a blond lady in a thong only. That was her by the way not me. Don’t see that too often where I live
I did an Olympic Triathlon at Leeds and I had the pleasure of climbing a hill on the run behind a young lady from Leeds University all clad in lycra. I sooooo longed to just tuck in behind for the duration butt yet again Mrs Emu was watching somewhere along the course so decided I'd better go past before I got caught drooling. I often think of her if you know what I mean.
Work permit will need to be re applied for which hopefully is a formality but it might mean he misses this weekend.
Team for tomorrow; Meslier Ayling, Rodon, Struijk, Byram Gray, Ampedu, Shackleton James (if fit), Piroe, Sinistera James on the left and Sinisterra as a ten. Shaks and Aylling to work the right flank again.
Can’t see Sinisterra or Gnonto starting to be honest, if they do it sends out the wrong message. I think they’ll have to work there way back in
See your point but as Farke said in the presser he has shown leadership, it"s up to him to play the best team available. Probably a 'unbelievable hard' decision. I'm starting to like his pressers nearly as much as marcelos.
What's the situation with Sini though ? Did he actually refuse to play or was it just that he flirted with the idea of a move away ?
I don’t think anyone knows the truth, I just can’t see Farke starting with them on the pitch. Tuesday EFL cup for the pair of them
I dunno, Farke just says that Sinisterra was a different issue, a legal issue with his contract so it was Farke who took him away from the group and not Sinisterra refusing to play.
