If the window ends now it is 7/10. Kept a core of good players and should be competitive. We did just sell the guy who scored our two best goals (ignoring hair deflections) but we got a player who used to be pretty good a few years ago so that is fine. If we now sell Sulemana and Che, the club will have massive final week work to make this an acceptable window.
I'm okay with that. As has been said, good Championship player, but never a £20m player for me (at least at the moment). Good luck to him, seems a nice lad and will probably do pretty well there.
Personally don’t really care that it’s ‘good money’ for him. We’ve already brought in plenty of good money. I’d rather have the goal scoring player.
Think this is a mental opinion. Tella has proven he can smash the league here. Sulemana has proven he can play well in one game which was basically a friendly. Absolutely gutted to lose tella.
Not sure if been talked about on here or not but apparently Swansea have rejected our second bid for Wood.
Sulemana will tear the Championship to shreds if we keep him. He'd have been a good player for us had we kept Tella, but he's not worth £20mill.
So 4 more to go for a full house of our good players who I expected to leave this summer. ABK, KWP, Sulemana and Alcaraz. About 10 to go for the **** players I hoped would leave
One thing on Sulemana. He has a higher potential ceiling than Tella imo, but he’s not been a goal scorer in his career to date. He has a lot to prove still if he does stay. Tella at least guaranteed goals at this level. Not sure Sulemana does.
I think he probably will do. Tella couldn't score for toffee in the PL, in fact it looked like he couldn't kick the ball hard enough to get it to the goal. If Kamaldeen stays, I think we'll see a very similar story.
I just wonder how much SAA has made SR and Wilcox think, hang on, we can afford to sell Tella for the right price here. It's a gamble, but SAA clearly has bags of talent and ability. I don't think Martin will be afraid to start him either.
Well, when we sell SAA for ‘the right money’, you can have a lovely sulk from me. The right money is no fun to watch on a Saturday afternoon.
Unpopular opinion ... If Tella had been signed for big money in the last window but contributed little, instead of coming up through the academy, people would be a lot more up in arms about selling him right now.
I think he could do too. But it’s more a hope whereas confident Tella would have netted 15+ this season. I know it’s not the same but Tella scored lots at youth level too. Tbf have no idea if Suelemana did or not at youth level, but he hasn’t in his professional career to date.
I think you are overthinking it. It is most likely just a decent offer from a better club and Tella wanted to go. Presumably he was another one who had the “conversation” with Wilcox at the beginning of the summer about right price and you can leave. Leverkusen obviously have hit that price.
A lot more. There are people out there who are OK and content with the deal. If it was Sulemana (who hasn't done anything to warrant such hope and faith, for me), those same people would be a bit more annoyed we were selling him.
Tella didn't really come up through the academy for what it's worth. He came up through Arsenal's academy and joined us around 18 when he was deemed surplus to requirements.
