For a slightly negative slant on this - loans tend to happen quicker. And I can’t immediately think of someone we could loan in for central striker. Seems like it would have to be a purchase. Most premier league clubs don’t even have enough strikers let alone spare ones
I have to believe that we won’t sanction Che leaving without a replacement of some kind. Unless maybe Sulemana and Tells stay and those two and Armstrong make up the central options hence the extra winter option. But none are any kind of focal point so I am not convinced
Daily Mail reporting Smallbone close to signing new deal, just discussing whether it’s a three or four year deal. Could all be resolved by start of September.
Sounds like Kamaldeen might stay, Tella and Che to go. I’d probably take that and hope we replace Che.
I’ve kind of discounted him as he will surely be a long way from match fitness. Not someone who I would expect us to be able to throw in if there is an imminent injury
On the face of it, I'm not a fan of Holgate or Fraser. But I'll wait until 1 September, at which point it should become clearer as to how involved they are likely to be. I'm also relieved that both are loans - and without any obligations to buy.
I'm wary of Fraser for a few reasons, but he's something we have need of: a wrecking ball that is good at getting the ball into dangerous places and creating chances for others. Given that it appears that we'll have 95% possession this year, that's useful...but I also would want no part of his permanently.
My instant negative reaction was that this definitely meant current first team players were off - ABK & Tella for example. My hopeful positive reaction is that these loans are very good two for ones on players we are looking to shift Holgate for Bree & Lyanco Fraser for Aribo & Djenepo
I don’t. I don’t know him. All the sounds around him though are that he wants to leave and RM does not sound massively confident he wants to stay.
So tbf it's all just guesswork which I understand is the nature of this thread but when guesses are reported like a fact it's a tad misleading.
That is how everything on this page is written… It is a fact we are trying to get Che to stay. It is a fact he has not signed a contract. It is a fact RM said he is playing tomorrow ‘unless something happens in the meantime’. It is a fact plenty of ITKs have said he wants to go back to the premier league. There is enough there for us to make reasonable guesses on. Even the most optimistic of posters seem to be assuming he is off.
See, this is what all those with a negative response to this morning’s news said was going to happen…
Considering he has been reported as being happy here, if we sell him for that amount then we are fools. The only reason we should sell probably the best winger in the league is if the offer is ridiculous, like £30m.
