Everyone was in agreement that we had more than enough wingers yesterday, so anyone who likes this signing must want one of those talented players to go. He is a good player but not what we need.
I don't think so...? https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...aser-bournemouth-newcastle-united-steve-bruce
Didn't Russ say in a presser the other day that Stuart Armstrong wanted to play centrally and was convinced to stay with the promise of playing central? I'm sure I didn't imagine it. In which case there's space for a winger even without a departure surely. Seems like sensible, decent addition to me.
No, it only works if Sulemana leaves. Of all our players, I am already happy for him to go. If any of the others go I will be miffed. But someone does as 5 wingers is too many to play regularly. Unless Tella is going up front and that just feels wrong.
He's more a left winger than a right winger, so replacing Edozie as a starter (which I'm fine with). Right wing would be Tella (start) and SAA (sub). Sulemana, who knows what happens. Same with Djenepo. Adams, Stu, Fraser. We're basically becoming Scotland.
Sulemana needs to be loaned out for a season so he can come back when we are in the prem and pretend he never refused to play for us.
Suspect that Sulemana is probably going elsewhere, at least on loan, which would leave our depth chart as: Striker: Someone/Armstrong/Ballard Winger: Tella/Edozie/Frazer/SAA 10: Alcaraz/Stu CM: Charles/Smallbone/Downes LB: Manning/KWP RB: KWP/Bree CB: Bednarek/Holgate/Stephens/Awe (or another addition?) Likely moving: Onuachu, Sulemana, ABK, Che. On the outside/further depth: Mara, Aribo, Lyanco, Djenepo.
That is pretty horrible up front! CM way too weak. CB one long term injury from disaster. Not a bad window yet. But it can't shut like this.
Yeah, I'm expecting another CM, and we either need to sign a good striker or keep Che. And I wouldn't mind another CB either...I don't particularly trust any of the three, Holgate included.
Howe still played Fraser when he became Newcastle manager, at least for a dozen or so games. So they obviously buried the hatchet. I'd imagine there's far more to it than any fan will ever know. He's only a loan anyway, not like we're spending 20m on him.
His hamstring or groin most likely, being they've kept him out for most of the last couple of seasons.
I wonder what has happened with Hove. That was apparently a relegation release clause so should be more straight forward in theory
Given that Russell Martin and Ryan Fraser played together and were on Scotland camps together, I’m going to trust that he knows far more about the person he’s bringing into the dressing room than any of us.
