He’s okay / inconsistent in the PL but I’m sure he’ll be fine at a lower level. Look at who the majority of the league have at CB position. We got promoted last time with Hooiveld (who was an abomination in the PL) and Aaron Martin and Dan Seaborne as depth. Honestly, I’m fine with this if Swansea are making things impossible with Wood now they’ve got the Piroe money and still have an option to extend his contract.
For some reason this transfer makes me feel a lot less confident about all the noise about the players queuing up to come here. We need to make one impressive signing this window. One. We have made £150M!
Yeah he's on 72k a week at Everton. So this loan shows how desperate they are too save every little penny. Just hope this doesn't mean that we have allowed Che to go the other way.
I have been happy clapping through this window but the calibre of players we are getting is about three grades lower than our rivals…
Yeah this is a shocking signing. Don’t know why anyone is trying to spin this as a positive. This is truly poor
Is it? I’m not sure Leicester have signed anyone I’m wishing we had. Please tell me you’re not talking about Harry Winks! Leeds - I would’ve liked Piroe but they also would’ve loved to have Adams + Armstrong
I think Downes will very quickly prove you wrong. And wasn't Charles man of the match in our previous game?
So it seems that the three seasons that he was a regular, it was under Ancelotti and Benitez and Everton finished 12th, 10th and then 16th. I don't know much about Holgate but if those two managers on the whole backed him then he's probably more than capable at Championship level.
I presume most of us have been watching football of all standards for some time. It has to be said a poor player at one club is not necessarily a poor player at another, like managers. Sometimes they fit, sometimes they don't. Very unfair to be underwhelmed by Holgate and he hasn't even kicked a ball for us.
Didnt Holgate also play RB a fair bit - wasnt sure all his games under those better managers were at CB.
A little misdirection there from some of you! Leicester: In Harry Winks (£9.8m, Tottenham Hotspur) Conor Coady (£7.5m, Wolverhampton Wanderers) Callum Doyle (loan, Manchester City) Mads Hermansen (£5m, Brondby) Stephy Mavididi (£6.4m, Montpellier) Cesare Casadei (loan, Chelsea) There is a mix there of premier league quality in a range of positions, plus talented youth. Leeds: In Ethan Ampadu (£7m, Chelsea) Karl Darlow (£400k, Newcastle United) Joe Rodon (loan, Tottenham Hotspur) Joel Piroe (£12m, Swansea City) That one is roughly comparable to us, but if Che goes then it is the equivalent of them gaining a good striker and us losing one.
