Moyes could have said no to those two mind. He was in an extremely strong position, Short was very keen to have him in.

The trouble was that Moyes, despite nearly a year out and around a year in Spain had obviously done no work at all in making a list of possible players for when he got back in to the game, which was only ever going to be at roughly our level.

Sk he lazily brought some ghosts of his past. Horrible fecker. I can only ever loathe the charlatan.

Didn't see jewi on here and he didn't play for the u21s

Also the young Belgian kid who played against south shields was training, and he is a forward

Just a random thing I noticed, but despite the international nature of our signings of late, 9 of the 11 who started at the weekend were born in England, one was Northern Irish and the one “foreign” player (Ekwah), has lived in England for 5 years and speaks English so well he sounds like he was born here.

Good and bad for me so far. Jobe is a good buy, Dack looks positive - for they make us stronger ? Going forward- depends when you compare. After deadline day - definitely stronger last year but we have deadline day to go. I’d so we’re not stronger now overall and weak up front. Might be stronger mid season when the new players settle in if we sign the striker we need and get Stewart back. Worried about Speakman and Mowbray’s/managers relationship but overall our model is a huge plus

Hemir was looking more confident when he came on against Rotherham, almost scored as you know.

If he does a 'Jobe' and scores a couple we'd stop thinking about his age so much.

I think Hemir would benefit from Dack playing behind him and, if Pritchard can get crosses towards him I could see more headers than we're used to. Also, if Stewart is fit, firing and scoring goals I'd prefer Hemir as back up than a well worn Championship style signing.

The football we played, last season, was so exciting I'd like to see more of it.

You can add Rigg to your list of 'strengthening' imo, not available last season but will definitely play a part this time.

Looks like Coventry without a new striker then. Everbody seemed so confident last weekend one would be in for this game. Shows how fragile football transfers are doesnt it. Never done, till they are done.

I was reading Silva on Stanstead. Clear he will only send him where Fulham get what they want, which is game time. I suspect with Clarke, Roberts, Stewart, Dack, Pritchard some clubs are preferring loanees to go elsewhere. We need to be fishing in a smaller pond for prem loans I think, i.e. one that will make Stewart have to really earn his place. The more I think about it the more I think it is massively problematic us getting a striker in. The club can try all sorts of players, but we need the other club and player to be prepared to face stern competition for game time.

I don’t think Hemir will be a bad signing just not what we need in this first half season. Hopefully that one lands any day. We have to be ready for Stewart not being fit this year. Obviously hope he is but we have to be strong when he isn’t. Hemir looked better and that’s what we need. Nurse him into the right minutes.

Personally, for this away game, I'd play Dack as the focal point with the wide players running ahead of him.

I think he'd hold the ball better, bring in other players and shift their defence around ...

... Hemir mainly just wants to score goals, fair enough but there's more to it than that.

Yes point taken. Experience against these knackers may be best. Bloody good sub to bring on if needed though.

Really honest question here m8, definitely not on wind up, what tells u there is anything to worry about with speakman and Mowbray? Other than speculation on here and otr saying there’s problems, which is just that, speculation, what else tells you there’s anything to worry about? As I say just a simple question.

Not answering for Pure River here, he is a top poster and can do that for himself.

I remember at some pre season event or other how glowing Speakman was about Mowbray. He even suggested he was on the radar when Johnson went but was in work. Suggests 2 things, last 2 appointments have ideally been people out of work, but also that Mowbray has been respected for a long time as perfect for our model. Speakman addressed the tweet that everyone now relies upon as the start of the unease re Farioli. Never said it did or didnt happen, but made it clear that some people can post something and it is treated as fact by some. Quite true as well that.

My own opinion, and it is not meant to be offensive to anyone who thinks otherwise, is there is absolutely zero in this. I said it in the summer and I am even more certain now. There may be arguments and disagreements, shouting matches and rants. As it should be in a grown up management team. Doesnt mean either party have any lack of faith or trust, in fact quite the opposite. Mowbray has openly praised the record of the recruitment team recently, and as posted earlier Speakman has praised Mowbray highly. Mowbray in particular is so experienced, and so respected, if he felt there was a real problem he could and would (in my opinion) go, knowing he would land a plumb job by Christmas. I have very little faith in the modern media these days, but these sorts of stories sell papers (or get internet traffic) and there is no need to ever back up their claims.

Mowbray is our man, and I think he is the clubs man too. Unless he crashes the results and performances I think he will be here next season and beyond.

    Good post mate.

All I know is that this club has had bright young players, before, who've become middle aged and still not achieved their potential.

Mowbray is taking on lads, of all languages, and turning them into players fast.

As that's the basis of this 'model' it would appear to be the perfect combination.

    It's been incredible to watch.

Is it widely accepted that Dack was proactively acquired as Pritchards replacement?
