Leeds and Farke looking at Sargent. Can’t see this going anywhere unless they offer megabucks (£20m +). We are not blessed with reliable strikers who could take his place without having to look for an available replacement.
Yeah I saw the McLean one and laughed. It's a classic oh he used to manage them and they need a midfielder. Oh this player is a midfielder and is wanted by Y because the manager used to manage him.
ITK O'Rourke is doubling down now, saying Sargent is keen to go to Leeds "And though the Norfolk side are reluctant to lose Sargent, it is believed it would not take a huge fee to land the forward." Yeah right, we're going to let him go for a pittance this late in the window. please log in to view this image https://www.footballinsider247.com/...lete-farke-reunion-as-leeds-united-plot-raid/
Also Snodgrass and Becchio. All four were in our 2013--2014 PL squad. Becchio was a big success at Leeds, 226 appearances, 86 goals, but never replicated anything like that form after leaving them for Carrow Road.
I seem to remember Becchio barely getting any game time to see if he could replicate his Leeds success. There was the issue of getting ahead of the likes of Grant Holt but later it was RvW, Hooper, Elmander? Perhaps by then he was already consigned to the loan / dispatch pile. Cameron Jerome and Grabban soon followed.
He was signed in the January 2013 transfer window, in a swap deal which involved Steve Morison going to Leeds. He made 8 appearances that season, and 5 the next, and that was it. I can remember being chuffed when that swap deal went through, and what followed was a big disappointment. I'd followed his exploits at Leeds and had high hopes of him! Only to have all that upstaged by the RvW saga!
I think Becchio was really out of shape when he first joined? Why he didn't get into shape over the next year or so, I can't explain.
If it doesn't display, Pedro Lima is now describing himself as a "Norwich City sportsperson", no mention of a loan?
20 year old left footed central midfielder. Reads like more of a traditional box to box central mid rather than DM or ACM. 6 foot for those that measure suitability by size. Contracted to Palmeiras till end of 2024 so defo a fee if he's coming here permanently.
This is a decent read on him. Sounds like he's a decent player and I can see why we'd be interested, but a loanee for the development squad? That feels strange. He's apparently signed an extended contract with Palmeiras this summer, and there's no indication as yet that this deal is any more than a straight loan.
Interesting but strange as well, because I also don't understand why we would take a player on loan for the development squad if there's little prospect of a permanent signing in the future, but then he's the same age as Rowe, so not everything can be predicted. On another tack, FLW is suggesting we take Mason Holgate on loan from Everton. At 26, he's a former England U21 CB who can also play at RB. Seems a reasonable suggestion to me, but I don't know much about his play other than that he has good pace and was previously valued at £20m. https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/n...-final-piece-of-the-promotion-jigsaw-opinion/
Is this some sort of trial deal? We get a first hand look at him over the season to see what we think and then offer a good fee at the end if he’s worth it
About the only reason I can think of. Makes no sense otherwise. We get absolutely nothing out of the deal unless there are unknown conditions attached.
