Good Morning. It's Tuesday 22nd August, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

Leeds target Archer but face stiff competition

Leeds face stiff competition from Southampton for Aston Villa striker Cameron Archer. The 21yo impressed during his second half of last season loan spell at the Riverside Stadium, netting 11 times, and registering 6 assists from 20 appearances.

He also scored twice for England this Summer at the U21 European Championships, which the three Lions won! Aston Villa are demanding a £20m fee, add-on's and a £50m buy back clause. Leeds have generated £25m in sales this Summer, so could theoretically afford it, but it would leave them short to buy other players.

If it came down to affordability, Southampton blow Leeds out of the water. They have generated £132m in sales so far, and look set to raise another £15m with the sale of Che Adams, yet they have kept the nucleus of their squad intact.

The Whites are desperate for a striker (as well as an attacking midfielder, 2 wing backs and another rotating holding midfielder) before the transfer window slams shut in 10 days time. Bamford's injury problems are well documented, and can't be relied upon to see the season out, and Rutter, whilst looking lively is still an unknown quantity

    You're not helping

Some sections of the Elland Road faithful just can't help themselves, especially when it comes to Wilfred Gnonto. If racially stereotypical chanting, about the size of his p**** isn't bad enough, some bright spark has had a less than flattering banner made depicting the Italian International in a nappy, with the caption 'Waaaaah Waaaaah, I don't want to play in the Championship'.

Can anyone really blame Gnonto for wanting to leave? The ER hierarchy (including 49ers Enterprises) have sabotaged our club this Summer, and have bought it down to its knees. Their mindless lunacy could, in reality set the club back years.

Are the fans directing their anger at the wrong person? I'm sure we can all agree that Gnonto has been badly advised (not that we're biased), but what would you do in his situation? Almost every talent has been sent out on loan (without a fee) or sold at a fraction of their worth, and promotion seems as likely as the Tories winning the next election.

Fans spend thousands of pounds, and hundreds of hours following their club through thick and thin. If they pay their money, should they be allowed to express themselves how they want?

Leeds favourite to land teen sensation on loan

Leeds have emerged as favourites to land teen sensation Facundo Buonanotte on loan this season. The 18yo attacking midfielder currently applies his trade at Brighton, whom he joined in January for £10m from Argentinian outfit Rosario Central.

He made 13 appearances last term, but has fallen down the pecking order, having strengthened their squad, as they prepare for Europe. Leeds fans will remember the last time they took a Brighton prospect under their wings, they did all the hard work, and Brighton ended up selling him for £50m. According to the Sussex Express, Brighton see Buonanotte as a star for the future, and have no intention of making the move permanent.

The Leeds squad is littered with young talent, all desperate to make a name for themselves. Whilst Buonanotte would no doubt improve Daniel Farke's squad, he is unlikely to possess the physicality needed for a Championship brawl.

    Brentford want Sinisterra on loan.

That magic L word is like a 'moth to a flame' for the Leeds board.

They'll be helping him pack as we speak...

Meanwhile, Leeds are set to announce a new transfer within days (probably 365 of them), but still days...

The Archer link feels like a repeat of what happened every window under Radz. Ambitious link with a good player, miss out because a better team comes in for them, panic and overpay for a crap player instead. I'd be ecstatic if we got Archer but I just can't see it happening.

    Morning all

We’re linked (understandably) with every single available player, it just means the agent has offered them. Scrap the buy back on Archer and sell Gnonto for £20m and bring in Facundo and it’s starting to heat up.

Sinisterra sort out the contract issue and hopefully he’ll remain along with Summerville.

If you were a Southampton supporter would you be happy with those sales, your best players shipped out and £132m sitting in the bank. That’s not getting reinvested this window.

Southampton supporters will feel they are in no great position at present. For us it’s who remains in just over a weeks time, hold on to Summerville and Sinisterra and I’d not swap them for anyone at Southampton

There is nothing racist IMO regarding that banner. He has dug his own hole and deserves everything he gets. I appreciated we now live in an ultra sensitive society, but things are getting more ridiculous day in day out.Get him out of the club.<grr>

Yes, if I were a Saints fan I'd be delighted to raise £130m, and still have :-

As apposed to £25m, and be reduced to:-

Best to compare starting elevens when the window has closed though don't you think ?

Hold your nerve and don't panic as it's just about to get interesting.

But you're being unfair and biased, why does our starting 11 not have Sinisterra, Gnonto and Summerville as at this moment in time, they are all Leeds players. Why does it not have our £15m left back Firpo in the team, you're taking a snap shot from one match.

Hasn't Che Adams scored 3 goals in 3 games, without his late equalisers and winners would Southampton not be on two points, Che Adams who they are looking to sell.

    Good morning everyone.
I have some good Southampton supporter friends, and two of them go to every home game. Believe you me they are very happy with the transfer window as it stands, like the way the club handled relegation and like the football they see, as one says the players might not be house hold names like Ward-Prowse, but are 100% committed to the cause.
They are also pleased with Rusell Martin with the way he has galvanised these players, to play as a team and also each other, Somewhat along the same lines as us under Bielsa, which Farke is going some way to emulate but with less capable players.
So for what it's worth i think from what i have seen and heard Southampton are very strong candidates for auto promotion this season.

With only one more League match before the transfer window closes it's imperative we get the best players who are going to become available. We went early last summer and signed players who turned out to be not good enough. There's still a huge amount of deals to happen all around Europe and as we now have money to spend we must get full value for it.

The banner isn't the racist issue, it was a tweet that was made.
Agree he has to go, behaved like a petulant child, as he has done on the pitch a few times, let somebody else mother him.

I didn't see the tweet Gessa and I'd don't agree with the level of abuse players get and I certainly don't agree with the targeting of players families. <ok>

Bit rich all these accusations of racism when the rat is from Italy - one of the most supposedly racist countries in Europe.

Why am i getting the feeling our targets will turn us down. We have signed no creative mids or strikers. Did the mini bus of four divert to other clubs.
The longer this goes on the more amusing it becomes. Paddy Marathe if this is agressive I'm a bhitch...
Three things we need to attempt staying up. Quality... Money.... Experience. We could be as the yanks say. 2 from 12 heading into the 5th.

Still waiting for signings if they ever come but peed off about the way Hay, Smyth, Pope and our club slag off fans who have a right to express their anger at players. You would think the media would be standing up to free speech instead of getting the police to over reach and call it hate crime. Hate crime !!!! The police are already policing thought ffs. Gnonto is a little cnut
