I’d prefer respect unity and stability. I think very little of how Neil acted but the same thing a second year on isn’t good practice,

My opinion on this is that it is just a rehash of old stories to fill column inches.

This is why people will always take your comments about speakman with a pinch of salt mate. You were/are close to SD and he might be a cracking bloke (ive never met the guy so cant comment on that) but the job speakman has done compared to him is amazing. I remember them saying the pi$$ take party had ended when they came in but it really hadn't, it ended when KLD appointed Speakman

We wont all agree with what speakman does and there will be times when we all think we can do better but im delighted with.the direction the club is going.

He needs to have a bit of arrogance about him in his role, and he will rub people up thw wrong way at times but the one thing you know hes doing is trying make the club the best club we can be.

I don't mind you as a poster, the only things i ever really disagree with you on is your comments on Dan Neil and i take your comments about speakman with a pinch of salt, so im not having a go at you just saying why some of us won't ever take it as gospel

The practice that saw Alex Neil ‘so unhappy’ was putting together a squad that saw us finish in the playoffs playing some of the best football we’ve seen in decades.

You have to admit the noises are scarily similar to just before Neil left though.

Personally I think it's just frustration from all sides and possibly we have been caught a bit on the hop with the crazy transfer fees this summer after it appeared to be calming down last season.

Bob seems to be hinting that the club want tired rid of Mowbray but are waiting for a chance to get rid without upsetting the fans? Surely that's risky as it might never happen he could go on a 10 match winning streak and be safe as houses.

If they want rid then they should have done it end of last season?

But like another poster has said I take this with a pinch of salt, Bob might know plenty at the club but I can't see them exactly telling anyone who will listen if they unsure about TM?

It needs sorting one way or another and soon. It's highly likely Mowbray won't be getting a new contract so why be in limbo all season, which will impact results?
Probably should've took the short term fume and parted ways after the Luton games. Would've be able to appoint Farioli and started the season afresh.
If Mowbray keeps getting results and we get to Easter, for example, and we have a chance of going up all that will happen is the John Pigfaces from the tabloids will ask him about his future and it'll unsettle the whole squad.
If not and we lose a few and are midtable by October KLD will get rid and we have to find a new manager a 1/3 of the way through the season.

Anyway hopefully a striker in today

Think I posted this elsewhere, but it's my opinion that Mowbray was only ever a stop-gap appointment - a safe pair of hands to steady the tiller and keep us up after the bald snake jumped ship. What happened next took everyone by surprise - the football we played, the results we got and how Mowbray did in the face of such adversity. Looks like the club did speak to a couple of coaches, but come the end of the season, there would have been uproar had we sacked Mowbray.

So, what has happened since - could the club be keeping the purse strings closed in an effort to frustrate TM and force him out? I don't think it's as direct as that, but they are (I reckon) of the opinion that he can walk if he wants and they will have someone lined up. Mowbray's general demeanour since the Luton game has been more downcast, but let's face it, he's not exactly an Ian Holloway type at the best of times?

Hopefully this week sees 2 or 3 additions, we beat Cov on Sat and everyone is happy again

He like Alex Neil has been MANAGER not Head Coach and has become used to total control , after having overall power for many years it must be difficult to adapt to relinquishing control . Speakman and Mowbray need to be on the same wavelength if the club is to progress at the rate we have , I think the signing of Bradley Dack showed that Speakman is willing to listen and compromise if their is a good deal for the club , Mowbray has to accept that ultimately Speakman needs to rubber stamp any deal for the benefit of the club .

Like you,I'm confused by all this. Nothing makes much sense to me. Last season we saw some of the most exciting and attacking football we've seen in many a day alongside the exponential improvement in many of these young players....e.g. Paterson,Hume,Neil,Ekwah,Clarke, Roberts and so on. If the plan was to stabilise in the Championship,it was a successful year under TM. It's clear he's frustrated by the striker situation in particular, and we all are but the window still has 10 days to go,during which he,and us,are expecting a bit of activity. Dack,we think,is his signing,so he's not without influence.
Surely the plan will be to continue in the same vein and to see where we are,and if improvement is maintained going well into the season. If so,why would we want to change? If not,his position,as with any coach, comes under scrutiny, but not now?
This name of Farioli keeps cropping up,but he has a deal at Nice until 2025,I'm not sure why he comes into any of our picture at the present time.
TM has always had a dour demeanor in interviews.....it's his personality, he's hardly been any different and I'm a bit surprised so many read so much into it.
If we have a good 10 days in player dealings,I'd continue to be very optimistic for our prospects under TM,and I can't understand why the Board wouldn't be the same.

Any further word on the Danny Batth situation? Seems daft that our POTY isn't getting a look in, heard the rumours he's homesick and also club won't renew his contract anyway and that's why he's wanting away as wants stability, however the old cynical fan in me wonders if it's the fact he's on 49 games and would it trigger any money to him on 50?

I maybe a million miles away from the truth but after the SD and CM era it makes me think.

I think he will unless it's his own choice, I think he's got enough in the bank from last season to see him ok for a while yet, and we could really do without the turmoil while bedding new young players in.

For what it's worth I think it would be a massive mistake if we replaced him intentionally.

In each of our 3 league games we have had greater possession and more attempts on goal. He's just missing a striker to put some of those chances away and we have conceded 2 goals from deflected shots, which is just bad luck.

I really don't know what the club would hope to achieve in replacing him (unless Mowbray decides to leave of course, which is fair enough).

To be fair, most knew there was something wrong before we got to Luton Town for the second leg of the play offs with the stories in the press about changing the coach, the lack of defenders but more even before that going back to the January transfer window when no forwards were recruited. All through the summer break there were undertones of things not being right. It doesn't take a genius to see things are not right. Its how quickly these "problems" are addressed.

With respect back, I'm purely point out the irony at Bob not liking what he's seeing because Speakman is arrogant and there's no clear direction behind the scenes. Whereas the previous lot scored a lot worse on both points.

That said it seems clear its not all rosey.
