Everton are skint. It could well have been a heavily “structured” £12m and been at the top end of what they could bid. I’m a little sceptical that they’d sign a player for £15m when they still have to plead their case on FFP punishments in November. This other lad would probably come significantly cheaper and probably doesn’t know that their fans accost players in the street when the football is a bit ****. See, at least our fans have the good decency to be apathetic when it’s going badly!
Just under two weeks to go and anything can happen and there will be bigger bids on the way for our top players. I’m hopeful Tall Paul’s absence means a move is close and.I don’t think finding a loan option for Mara would be difficult and that would give us the squad room to buy a new striker. Ideally I would keep Adams and we might be able to recoup something in January from a desperate premier league team if a new striker or Ballard are successful or who knows, convince him to sign a new deal
Hopefully Che is watching how terrible Everton are, and fancies more playing his part in a team that wins some games, rather than a rinse and repeat of our last season.
I was thinking the same. Keep his options open for next summer, rather than tie himself down to these guys.
Che is replaceable, I just think that's a bad move on his part. £15 million for him with a year left is good business. Going to be a busy 11 days.
I'll throw a name out for a replacement: Jesus Ferreira at FC Dallas. Small, fast and a very good finisher, he has been suggested in rumours to a bunch of top division sides in Europe, but his club claims no one has actually bid for him...had a poor outing in his one World Cup appearance (against VVD, Timber and Ake, mind) which may be causing some pause. The Championship would be a good level for him to play regularly.
This is Wilcoxs time to bring someone in that the fans can fall in love with and really get us excited. I'm gutted he is going, But we've needed a proper striker for ages now.
Yeah let's sell our striker who's scored in every league game this season (including 90+ minute winners) If this goes ahead it'll be ****ing outrageous. No way are we signing someone good enough to replace him with less then two weeks left of the window. Poor Russ
