Some interesting bits and bobs. The unused squad players all look miserable, which probably isn't surprising. Rashford, Wan-Bissaka and Eriksen showing some respect to the kids above the tunnel. Bissouma's happiness gets it's own clip: This is the player we bought from Brighton. This is what we were hoping for.
Fernandez is expecting an apology from the officials for not getting a penalty. Good to see that irony is alive and well (And yes, he can **** right off, the cheating twat! )
After that elbow in the ribs, Madders was then tripped. Both players were down injured in their box but they went up the other end and tried to score. How sportsmanlike is that? Bruno captain- what can one expect?
Very strange choice for captain. Ten Hag needs to tell him to get his head in the game. Spent far too long moaning at Oliver and should've been sent off under the new rules. The ref went out of his way to avoid doing it and talked to him for ages, instead.
*We interrupt your scheduled broadcast with an urgent transmission* Ohhhhhhh yes, ladies and gentlemen! New football season means a new DH AwayDays season and to kick off Season 6 we've got a lovely little trip to our friends from the red half of Manchester, as DH goes over to RedCafe for a little day out. PRE MATCH: Mbuemo tore Emerson a new one on Sunday so I don't see why Rashford can't do the same. Porro it is then. Sancho HAS to play through the middle. Sancho and having to play really isn't something I'd expect to be reading in 2023. Based on the first Spurs and United games I expect Spurs to dominate that midfield area and win the game well. Bissouma and Maddison were excellent against Brentford. Wait til you see our SarrBoy in with them as well. ETH's first real test? How'd you reckon he'll do? Sancho has to start this one. Jesus, things must be tough. Their biggest threats being Son and Kane. Who wants to tell him? Being trounced by a Spurs team who are just at the start of their new project and have lost their best player would be absolutely demoralising. Get the whisky ready, fella. Spurs will leave loads of space behind their defence - perfect for our new GK to play flat balls across to the likes of Rasford to run onto. We will win this. Respect the confidence, even if slightly misguided. Bissouma was very good vs Brentford Wait til you see what he does to Casemiro. Can see a rare Richarlison goal If only! FIRST HALF: Antony has to be hitting the target from there Especially after all the practice he's had hitting his ex-missus. Antony & Garnacho are getting a lot of space with the way this Spurs team is set up. Need to take advantage. Problem for you lot though is it's Antony & Garnacho. I don't see us scoring more than 50 goals this season Not even when the Wish.com Haaland is fit? There's no way Rashford just missed that Back to his old self, last season was just a blip. Mitoma for Rashford next summer? Pretty sure Mitoma will be destined for a big move by then, pal. Antony really does my nut in. The guy isn't Robben. Understatement of the ****ing century. We started good, now the end of the first half cant come soon enough Wait til you see what the second half has in store. SECOND HALF: Let’s be honest Anthony must have played 40 games for United and he’s been ****e in 30 of them Only 30? *Sarr 1-0 De Gea would have saved that. No one's saving you from our SarrBoy. Dave would've saved that O-na-na I don't think so. Why is Shaw so ropey this season? He's becoming Phil Neville for us Ouch! Garnacho offers nothing defensively Could've stopped typing after nothing. Can Ten Hag change something now. His job? I predicted 2-0 Spurs, so the scoreline is on course. Hope you bought scratch card last night. Why did we get Mount instead of Maddison?! For like twice as much aswell. Because you're ****ing stupid perhaps? This new Spurs manager has gotten them playing better possession and front foot football in a 2 games than ETH has in a year with us That's what the Ange BBQ does to a team. If ten Hag does get the sack ( hoping it doesn’t come to that), it’ll be due to the Antony signing. It is a sackable offence to be fair... *2-0 Hobbit own goal What a **** goalkeeper we have signed ****'s harsh, wild though absolutely. ETH wont survive this season - and from the looks of it, noone will miss him #OleBack Should we replace martinez with maguire? That's like opting for a kick in the bollocks over a smack in the face. Lovely own goal Martinez. That deft touch type of finish, always stylish. Teams look much improved except us To be fair we couldn't get much worse than last season! Maybe ETH is right - he wants to be the best transitional team in the world. We are, as soon as we concede a goal we transition to a clueless bunch of turds. POST MATCH: Lads, its United. Boshhhhh Martinez was appalling in that 2nd half. When he wasn't trying to play their forwards on side and scoring own goals he was launching long balls into touch when there were simple short passes on. It's probably hard to see where he's launching it at to be fair, short hobbit problems. I would trade Bruno for Maddison right now. Maddison is a better passer, has better awareness, and can dribble by pressing opponents. I also would trade Casemiro for Bissouma right now. Unfortunately for you, we wouldn't. How can a coach who’s been here for a couple weeks, spent less and lost his best player look infinitely better than you?
I thought he played well. No chance on either goal and didn't do much wrong. Excellent passing and he was under pressure when playing it out a lot of the time.
It was a game of two halves. Spurs were anonymous in the first. Utd found it very easy to bring the ball through midfield. Utd had 14 attempts at goal but never looked likely to score. A better team would have finished Spurs off. In the second half, Spurs took a hold on midfield and therefore controlled possession. Bissouma looked like the player he was at Brighton. Maddison saw plenty of the ball and was able to create chances. It showed the importance of controlling midfield at this level. There was only one winner in the second half. Spurs should have scored more goals. But there doesn’t seem to be an obvious goal threat in the absence of Kane, which might be a concern for you going forward. It was an entertaining game, but that reflected the weaknesses in both teams which allowed plenty of chances, neither were particularly adept at taking. Spurs were 5/10, Utd were abysmal. Spurs are a work in progress but may improve. Utd are a group of expensively acquired individuals who play like they’ve never met. What do they do in training? And there were no controversial refereeing decisions. Romero’s handball was umpire’s call.
I'm still struggling to comprehend who at United thought it was a better idea to sign Hojlund + Mount instead of using the same money to blow Bayern's offer out the water and land Kane. They desperately lack a number 9 linchpin in the final third to weave everything together. Lots of extremely talented attacking players but they lack that lightning rod to conduct the orchestra. There is an insane amount of pressure on Hojlund's shoulders to be 'that' player, which is why I find it astounding that they seemingly passed on the opportunity to sign one of the best in world football at conducting affairs in the final third. Baffling.
Agree with most of that, but the transition happened at the 30-35 minute mark. And the foul on Romero was similarly debatable. Bottom line, I'd me a lot more concerned as a United fan at this point....
Antony has to be hitting the target from there Especially after all the practice he's had hitting his ex-missus.
And the fact his main reason for leaving is to win major titles. He’s more or less guaranteed the league in Germany and Bayern are probably 5/1 to win the CL. Utd probably have similar odds to us at winning the CL this season
I thought AWB bought down a Spurs player pretty blatantly as last man while on a yellow too but he stayed on. Though I was several pints deep at that point so I may be mis-remembering. Lots of reasons to be cheerful for Spurs right now. The obvious holes are with the forwards. We need an alternative to Richy who looks like he’s going to do everything Ange wants from him apart from score. And the wingers - both great players but they sometimes slow the game down a little too much. In fact it feels like Madders, Son, Kulu and Richy all hesitate a little around the box sometimes. More shots and quicker balls into the box will help our forwards look more threatening. New striker, cover at CB and another midfielder is surely the order of the day, I assume.
