On the tv, he had his shirt pulled and it’s possible he put his hand up to alert the ref but he was clearly fouled
If you watch the replay, he was having his shirt pulled and he raised his arms to balance himself and the ball hit his hand.
Haven’t had chance yet. I was only commenting on the radio commentary. So it is impressive he managed out the game
Plymouth may be a newly promoted team, but they will hold their own and had a very good home record. Particularly impressive without Alcaraz and Smallbone who will be 2 mainstays of our midfield this season and the replacements stepped up so well.
Che Adams. Urgent message: Don't joint Everton for another relegation battle. Stay and enjoy the fun and be the Championship top goal scorer. Message ends:
The biggest thing for me in the first 3 games under Martin is that there is a real sense of intent about us. I haven't had the sense that we are resigned to conceding or losing every game. We have played right to the death and earned a win and a draw I would have backed us to drop last year or two.
There is also the issue of timing which has totally gone against us which we could easily overlook. Sheffield Wednesday might turn out to be a dud this season, but we played them on the one day of the season they had their heads up and were raring to go. Norwich are a good side on good form. Plymouth are decent and were on a tremendous run. We have not played against one team that wasn't confident and expecting to give us a game. Yet we still have 7 points. We will face teams in worse straights - starting with QPR - and will give them a more more torrid time. So, yeah, that opening three games, with two promoted teams away and one of the strongest attacking teams in the division at home was a real banana skin.
I must admit, I've been really impressed with Martin so far. No baffling team sheets, no bizarre substitutions. Personable, knowledgeable and trying to get the fans on side. Seems a decent chap
I think we know why he made the choices he did in the league cup. Not baffling, if a little frustrating.
