So Piroe is allegedly going to sign a new contract, with a "big" release clause.
What if this was the plan all along from Saints and his agent? We don't get into another money squabble with Swansea, and we end up paying the release clause, to bring him to Saints? All depends on how much I guess.

Doesn't benefit Piroe at all, so I doubt it's the case.

Part of me wonders whether this being put in the public domain is his way of putting pressure on other clubs coming in for him now.

It would benefit him more to simply do nothing, given that his contract originally expired at the end of the year, so I very much doubt it.

I doubt they want to do business with us after the Martin compensation debacle.

That's what my point is. Saints meet the release clause, and Swansea have to accept it. No haggling over the price.

Even if that's the case, I doubt the release clause becomes active until next summer.

It's just a conspiracy theory, I am probably completely wrong.

Or like a lot of "conspiracy theories" you could be spot on.

Yes and no. As crazy as it sounds £15m isn't that much to us in relative terms this summer and it'll cost us that to replace him anyway.

I get that then we'd have a hopeful profit down the line on the next player but there has to be certain occasions where you base decisions on the immediate future.

Replacing him this late is a huge gamble in itself, even if a new signing has the talent he may be injury prone, have temperament issues or not settle in the area. Che's value is in being a known quantity and almost a guaranteed 15+ goals this year.

I rate our chances of promotion higher if he stays than if we have to replace him and we really don't need to let him go.

The complexity comes in that if we do eventually need to replace him then we will need to come up with at least 15m that we would get from a sale.

From an accounting stand point he is probably a 2.5-3m asset in the books. So a 15m sale also generates a circa 12m profit. Although our 3 big sales including pure profit on JWP means we shouldn’t really have FFP issues in that area

Yeah I wouldn't be suggesting it had we not brought in so much already and also be pretty stable financially but we have and we are.

And yeah funding a replacement in a years time if we don't go up won't be ideal but like I say I think keeping him represents our best chance of going up.

Move on Aribo and bring in Mcatee and that's a class player In midfield.

Imagine being as entitled as some of the city fans in those replies. Apparently they are “struggling for players” so they think they should keep him. Mind blowing
