regarding the 'freedom of speech' argument, as the president of FIFA, Blatter is representing FIFA, which controls football (most popular sport on the planet? correct me if i'm wrong). Because his role in football is so big, when he speaks in public he cannot ever speak from a personal perspective. when he speaks, he speaks as a representative of football/FIFA and a representative only, simply because football is universal so he (i know it's painful for him) must respect all nations. so to make such controversial and needless comments is just plain suicide. the freedom of speech thing isn't an excuse.

 

I agree with sepp on this. I say shame on the players and media calling for him to resign all he said is what happens between player and player stays on the pitch and a handshake after the game should be the end of it, mattarazi told zidane he wished an udgly death to his son and kids in the world cup final, point is when there is that much at stake u need to throw your opponent off his game and players will cross that line if they think its the diffrence between winning or losing that will never change and its hardly a big deal, I mean christ its not a big deal, racist chanting is a big deal but blatter isn't on about that.

Point is racist slurs should never be tolorated from supporters as that is abuse and bulling. Have 50,000 people chanting racist slurs towards u is diffrent from one guy saying it to wind you up, at least blatter is honest about it. A sly racist remark o you isn't a big deal and it doesn't mean the person saying it is racist either. The key is context, terry for example may have called anton a black **** butyou can't label him racist, I reguarly make comments about old people or gays in jest doesn't mean I'm homophobic. And the end of the day its just a word, sick of people playing the 'race' card! Real racism is more than just words its being discriminated or having a predjudice against you because of your race, would I care if some who wasblack call me white? No do you know why? Cos I am ****ing white its a statement ffs.

 

I do agree as the spokesman of fifa he should always condem all types of racism but fair dues to him for being honest, if only more public figures were as honest as him. We want honesty from mp's, sportsmen, public figures and the authorities, but when they are honest they get condemmed, when they lie they are hated. I bet the british media is the only one making a big deal of sepps comments, there just playing off the fact there isn't much love from us british towards fifa whenever they put a foot wrong u can bet there will be out roar in our press
