Our all-around defensive game was very poor today. Total lack of intensity in pressing and closing down, a lack of composure in bringing down high balls even when uncontested, some awful passes that put is in danger a good few times and constantly losing duals or diving into challenges and missing. This also applies to when it was 11 v 11. Thankfully they didn't capitalise and LR's subs paid off.

Yeah, if you read my post properly, I was talking about him being anonymous defensively when Blackburn hit us on the counter-attack. He was good on the ball.

    What absolute bullshit.
Twine always looked like he was going to make something happen.
Lokilo and Vaughn did **** all offensively when they came on and looked lightweight in terms of defending.

Fans of a certain age will remember City losing 2 nil at home against 9 men

Good / Successful teams find a way to win when they don't play well. Sounds like we weren't great today but its all about 3 points. Move on to the next one.

I think you're just taking your own meaning from what I'm saying. Yes we dominated that game, but we also played poorly defensively imo.

To be specific, the appalling parts were:

    - the lack of urgency to score a goal/win the game
    - passing around the defence with time ticking away
    - not being brave in possession
    - the fact that we have a fantastic set of players and only creating half chances against 10 men (up until they scored)

Not everything was appalling though I suppose. Just those things. It makes me feel better to write them down so I can relax. I’ll be happy about the win tomorrow I’m sure. <cool>

Could you curtail the fat tubby bastard stuff. Disrespectful to the two players who have each put the ball in the back of the net three times over just two games.

Long as we keep letting the opposition score first we should be fine <laugh>
