To run drugs as a wild guess?!? :emoticon-0105-wink:

It's a valid question though. The real answer is because we in this country are absolute mugs.

Sometimes people will just not see reason. Clearly doesn’t need to be in a nursery. Plenty of time for the book to be introduced at a later stage if deemed necessary.

There was an age inappropriate book in a nursery. It doesn’t say anything about the book being “taught”.

So tell me how that’s representative of the wider education system.
And I’d love to know more about this agenda.

Surely if the teacher is reading it and showing the pics that’s classed as taught to young children?

I'm really not sure why any adult would want or need to show that kind of stuff to nursery aged kids. I'll just never be able to get my head around it. What's wrong with them just being allowed to be kids playing and having fun. Learning the basics of life and making friends.

There plenty of time when they are older to be introduced to those topics.

I'm really not sure why any adult of sane mind would want to put such inappropriate content in a kids book...

    Few things on this
    a) Without seeing it that book does sound entirely inappropriate
    b) I assume nurseries have less oversight than schools
    c) The trustees seem to have taken the right decision and removed it
    d) Most shocking thing of all…that seems a really well written, balanced and factual article …and yet it’s in Hull Daily Mail!!! Both sides seemingly quoted and given space, and all seems reasonable throughout. I mean the couple in the photos aren’t even standing with their arms crossed! Probably turn out it was called Grandmas pride and the couple were asking for more BDSM at the nursery, but on the face of it that might be the best article they’ve ever had!

I dont think you'll find many LGBTQ+ people who think fetish gear in a nursery book is a good idea. I really don't think this needs to be turned into a 'LGBT education' debate.

I have seen the page in question, and I don't think its appropriate. However, its a small drawing in the back, with no attention placed on it.

Can understand how it ends up in a nursery if someone isnt vetting appropriately and I think without it the rest seems OK.

But that’s not what the article said. A staff member asked if the parents were comfortable with the book and they said they weren’t after seeing it.
Most nurseries and schools have a book corner where kids can go up and look at them during continuous provision, not all the books are necessarily read to the children by an adult.
I would hazard a guess that because the book/author won a lot of awards, they put the book in without actually reading it, which was very irresponsible.

When I moved classrooms a few years ago, I did an audit of the books in my Year 4 classroom. One of them was a graphic novel from the Alex Ryder series. It contained a lot of men with guns and people being shot. Straight in the storage shed it went.
