Don't Man City's owners have something to do with Etihad, like a son is a director maybe.
There's some connection which people have questioned the legality and fairness of. The fair play rules are relatively new and loopholes will be closed over time. I think MA is engineering the running of the club to manage with minimum sponsorship and that way he can advertise SD free to a global audience. Thats always been his aim. I find it questionable that solely renaming the stadium will bring in 10m a year when the shirt deal only got 2.5m a year. Exposure wise the shirt is seen every week for 90 mins, how often is the stadium seen?

Think with the fair play rules, the sponsorship deals can only be included with 'fair value' . As in, what they are really worth. Obv with city it's massively inflated but with sports direct I'm sure that MA wouldn't pay over the odds, if anything!

Only just read about this. I don't think we'll have sponsor-less shirts if we fail to find a new one. Mike Ashley won't pass up the opportunity to stick Sports Direct on the front.

I have heard that "Cannybevvy" have made a sponsorship offer, pity Carrol has gone, maybe we can interest Gazza to turn up as a mascot!<laugh>
