    Match Preview;
After a threw year absence in League One, Ipswich Town are back in the Championship and head to Lotus Road for our first home game of the season. They'll be hoping their main frontman, Conor Chaplin, will continue his fine form from last year, despite the step up, as he scored 26 in all competitions last season. His goals helped Ipswich to a 2nd place finish, and a return to The Championship. Their manager, Kieran McKenna, joined them in 2021 having managed the under 18's at Spurs, then Man It's before taking the role of assistant manager at United. So far, he's managed 47 wins in 82 matches for Ipswich, but now the challenge will be the step up to the Championship. They've beaten Sunderland and Stoke already, and sit top of the table, so it is going well for him so far. Also, he was born in 1986, and he's 37. That makes me feel old, and I know I'm a relatively youngen in these parts.

As for us, another cup exit on Wednesday evening, after a good away win at Cardiff, following an opening day thrashing at Watford. Due to the pitch being relaid, this is our first home game and the first chance for our team to play with the fans cheering them on. Here's hoping the 12th man will make the all important difference on Saturday and Ipswich's good run will come to an end. I'm with my in-laws for the day and my father-in-law is a tractor boy from his youth, so a lot riding on this for me.

Team news and manager comments to go up when on the official, and as always...

    ...COME ON YOU SUPER HOOPSA!!!

FFS Dave, Andre ‘the hairdresser ’ Dozzell has pretended to play for both. And been paid for it!

    Paul Goddard.

Tractor Boys! Bring it on! Massive game! Six pointer! Eight pinter!

A win would equal Gareth’s longest ever winning (league) streak as Rs full time manager! Two games! We can do this lads, carve your names into the living rock of history!

    Neat, neat, neat!

    Cheers Dave.

Dominic Ball as well. Had him and Luongo on pitch same time at Sunderland 1st game of the season, interesting to watch after just seeing Rs get smashed at Watford the day before!

Did they change the date of this game because of the pitch? We're away this weekend, so I'm going to miss it. I'd never knowingly agree to a weekend away when the Rangers are at home.

Don’t think so, this should have been our second home game, just the Watford one that was swapped and the Norwich cup game put back a week.

Have a lovely time wherever you are going……

We really are the Bookie's whipping boys at present. Home win 3:1, away win 1:1!

Sadly can't go to this but I'm replacing myself with a proper QPR fan to cheer the lads on!

What worries me about this fixture is that since beating Wigan 2-1 to go top of the table back in October, we've played 16 games at Loftus Road ( including last night's match ) and have won only once. We've drawn three and lost twelve and scoring only 7 goals and never more than one in any game. We've conceded 29 in that spell. Frightening stuff when you consider that last season's side was arguably better than the present crop of players.

Those stats suggest the team, or at least some of the team, are hesitant to go and play in front of their own fans for fear of abuse and a sour atmosphere.

Hopefully, new season, feels a bit like the beginning of a new era under Ainsworth. From when he took over until the end of last season was all about survival...now it is about moving onwards and upwards. If there are signs that is happening, and the fans get on board...Loftus Road will become a fortress again.

I don’t think so. Too easy to blame the fans. If they are afraid to play in front of us they should go and get another job. I suspect it’s down to two other elements:
    1. Not very good players
    2. Not very good manager(s)

Plus if we are set up not to have the ball and to play on the counter, it’s a strange place to be at home. When the away teams work out we are not going to put them under any pressure they get to play with a lot of freedom, especially when they spot that, last season at least, we kindly left acres of space in the inside left and right channels for them to stroll through.

So poor players set up poorly or hurt feelings? Hmmm…..

Well, from everything that he has said in the run up to this new season, it's all about survival again. Right from the start.

It’s a fair price I’d say. They’ve apparently been superb in both games so far.

It’ll be over six months without a goal in front of The Loft if we fail to score going that way tomorrow.

It's definitely a working man's price. Sunderland smashed them in the 1st half but couldn't score. 2nd half was all Ipswich

Be good if someone could show that to the team. Hopefully, it will inspire them.

I don’t do a lot of work so I’ll probably just back Field to get booked.
