its the exact sort of move I can see Levy making on deadline day. £30m or so down the drain on a signing that makes little to no sense. Similar to Sissoko at the time.

 

I’ve been trying to understand this transfer, but I’m struggling. We talk about competition for places, but with goalkeepers it’s virtually impossible to keep 2 “first team” goalkeepers happy. Ramsdale is a decent, and could play as first choice at the majority of clubs in the PL, including us.
I can’t imagine he’s too impressed by this, because the reality is that one of them will only play about 10 games this year. Neither is a benchwarmer or a “No2”, where there’s normally a significant drop in quality.

I give it 1 season before one of them won’t be there.

He’d be even worse for us than he is Utd too considering our CBs play close to the half way line. Seeing Maguire chase back from there would be quite funny though, it’d be the second half by the time he got back.

Bringing in Maguire to replace Dier is like Replacing Jimmy Saville with Gary Glitter to look after your kids. NO!

 

Let him leave, not going to play for the club again. He's stuck with us and given great service. Let him go somewhere he can get game time.

 

My thoughts too. At his age he’s probably only worth about £1m in the market anyway, if that. Is that really worth potentially scuppering a move for him over after everything he’s done for us? No.

 

I suspect we won’t stand in his way but there’s no harm in asking for a nominal fee first time.
