From BBC Sportsday Live 14:40 New Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson: "Expectations are high and its a big challenge but one I'm more than looking forward to, I believe we have a very good squad here and a good opportunity to do good things, I have the backing of the board and I know there keen to be successful, it's a big club with huge potential." Oh dear - did you not think we're not Nigel? BTW BBC its they're keen not there keen..
I hope he ****s up, Takes them nose diving down the table gets sacked then run over by a herd of wild elephants.
No different to what he'd have here, though maybe not with as big expectations to deliver promotion this season. Clearly money talks.
I realise pedants don't get much of a shout on this board but it's actually 'an ambush of tigers'. Back to Nigel though I do feel he's let himself down as much as the city fans. Although he had had criticism during his time at City (but no more or less than previous managers) he's shown that money is more of a driving force that anything else. I realise it would have been hard to turn down a doubling of anyone's pay but there has to be a time when a challenge means a little more than getting the quick buck. Time will tell I guess.
As collective nouns go, not bad. My fave would have to be "a crash of rhinos". Sums up the subject perfectly. Wrt NP, I have no issue with him leaving but, if what I hear is to be believed, he has turned out to be less principled than he himself claimed to be when he joined the club. if you do not mean something, say nothing otherwise all you end up with is meaningless platitudes. MoH
A murder of crows A tower of giraffes A murmuration of starlings A special bus of Leicester fans A rhumba of rattlesnakes
and what he thinking: "The Allams invested more than £45 million over a short period of time. But these people at Leicester complete idiots spunkin' even more money about chasing a false utopia. I though I had better get some on my hip whilst its there"
i think 'their' Nigel is getting off on, not just the money, but also - a) being wooed back after he left in a bit of a huff last time. Lots of "well you didn't appreciate me then but look what you were missing............" b) succeeding an ex England manager who is seen to have failed, quite a big ego trip for any aspiring manager, and i think Nigel has a pretty high opinion of himself. Not a problem, am sure that sort of self belief goes with the territory. Will be very interesting to see what happens - he could fly, but on the other hand this could be as good as it gets!
you say he has a high opinion of himself. i think you will find many many in the game also have a high opinion of him, so even if he 'fails' in Little Thailand, he we leave with a bundle on his hip and walk straight into a new job when he wants it. dont think he will be signing on anyway!!
Thank god we're not bitter and ungrateful. Hey what's that up ahead? Oh its the Future! Look away everyone, it might be better than having something to be negative about all the time!
