Good Morning. It's Wednesday 16th August, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

    No loan fee for Harrison

It has been revealed that the stipulations of Jack Harrison's contract mean Everton do not have to pay Leeds a loan fee for his services. They triggered the relegation clause in his contract merely by picking up the phone to his agent, and can return him back to Elland Road once the're done with him.

He joined Leeds back in 2018 from Manchester City, but spent the first three years on loan, for which Leeds paid £9m. Although powerless to stop him, the club's lay down and die attitude doesn't sit right with the Leeds fans and rightly so.

Given how Everton have blatantly disregarded financial fair play rules, for Jacko to go to Goodison Park shows a total lack of respect towards both the club and it's fans. Shame on Luke Ayling, Patrick Bamford and Junior Firpo for publicly wishing him well at Everton.

Will Leeds surrender to Everton pressure

Everton have no plans on giving up on signing want-a-way forward Wilfred Gnonto this Summer. The explosive winger has had his head turned in recent weeks following a Summer of discontent at Elland Road, which have seen the majority of last season's first XI depart the club on what can only be described as a 'Wilko' style closing down sale.

The bullying tactic has rubbed off on Gnonto, who has now refused to play. The Italian International is one of only a few players not to have a relegation clause in his contract, and as such, Leeds should tell their Merseyside rivals where to go, but it seems Leeds have lost their bottle!!!

Whilst there isn't much they can do if the players have clauses in their contracts, the silence from the ER hierarchy is deafening. Surely, there needs to be some sort of internal enquiry to find out how things went so terribly wrong!

Good morning it's Wednesday.... The support for harrison i find strangely disturbing. Lots of fans wishing him well are they mad. No loan fee involved so he just walks away it is stupid. Someone has slipped up with these contracts and needs sacking.

Morning all. It just gets funnier by the day. Worse fiasco now than the risdale debacle. I’ll bet Gnonto won’t be sold to Everton now, he’ll be loaned for free. For those of you leaving near Leeds, any sign of the construction crew arriving with the extra 20k seats without the wifi

The club need to make a statement because rather than being transparent like Marathe said, they are hiding again.

Why did we give these relegation clauses, did nobody think about what would happen upon relegation, where are the statement player signings promised and the big budget wages to attract big players. What are we doing to backfill player losses. Is there a plan for this season because it just looks like hit and hope. The club are a laughing stock and can now be used as a blueprint on how not to do things when promoted to the premier league and on what not do if relegated.

About 4/5 years ago was about the time we stopped hearing the statement, " Doing A Leeds", could be back on the agenda for journo's again.

    Do they actually get more?
Are the loans fixed for the season?
No return if deemed to be ****?
Returned if injured, for treatment, then on reduced money?
Seems like utopia for the players, irrespective of performance, still get top dollar.

If we sold Gnonto to Everton and they got relegated that would be extremely funny.

    Good morning
Even my Southampton mates are dumbfounded by what's happening at Leeds, i must admit though they are not taking the pi**, but are sympathetic, which is almost as bad. we all had high hopes of going back up together, their dream is still intacked, and so far like what they see and how the club handled relegation, just wish i could just have the pleasure of saying the same. It seems day by day it just get's more incredible with some of the players just taking the pi** out of the club, i was most surprised to see Harrisons position on this debacle, thought he was one of the good guys, sadly with most of our players from last season it's all about number one :(

The article implied that if relegated, they were refusing to take a cut in wages. The way Orta got around that was to offer them a loan away from the club instead. If this was a work around then you have to believe they are getting their PL wage paid by the club loaning them.

I'd imagine as long as the club loaning them was paying more than we would in the Championship that's good enough for them. Hence why we are having no say in who they go out on loan too, they'll just pick the club offering them as near to their PL wage

Good point about what happens if injured, I guess if they get sent back, they have their Championship wage paid but they'll miss the transfer window, not that it would matter as sending them back would indicate a major injury

They get their prem league wage paid in full and the deal is until June 2024. They may end up coming back for treatment if they get a bad injury but they cannot be returned for anything else. The loan club is getting fairly high value player for nothing except half million loan fee and the players wages. The Harrison no loan fee not sure if that’s a real story

I know when clubs go down they tend to lose one or two of their best players or even have a fire SALE, sale being the operative word, never heard of a fire loan before <grr>

The best bit is that if we don’t go up then these loan clauses are automatically triggered again next season.
