Wouldnt be too surprising to see a super league ran by the saudis in the coming future. Good luck holding onto your best players then or even keeping teams in the respective leagues. Imagine TV money x 10 to each team as an appetizer...
yup….and FSG will have to buy in or go home. Saudis did it to golf, it is crystal clear what they are about to do to football.
The sooner this is done the better (not the right word) but it’s inevitable Football will survive in uk we just won’t see the global superstars here (which is fine by me) We will need a Al Hilal Not 606 board but the game will go on If you want to watch - you will If you don’t you won’t But LFC will hopefully be still here in some form
I suppose it's the inevitable consequence of the way football has gone over the last few decades. It's become increasingly money-obsessed, taken away from real football lovers and handed over to rich people either to make them richer or inflate their egos. Plenty of us have long warned that money will ultimately destroy the game as a competitive sport - we expected the bubble to burst - but perhaps this is how it will happen, a way we hadn't anticipated? If you make the game all about money then you just hand it over to those with the most money. But... you never know, the Saudi experiment might fail and we can get back to buggering up the game in our own traditional way.
I'd be quite happy to see the game returned to the people and go back half a century (apart from the mud-bath pitches). However, the big clubs - ours included - would no doubt want to be part of the New World Order in some way, so I doubt there'll be an LFC that I recognise left over.
I think maybe we’d need to see a player misbehave out there and see how they’re treated for the rest to wake up and realise where they actually are. Are there any party animals that have gone yet?
I read this morning that Chelsea are going hell for leather this summer as it takes advantage of being out of Europe. When uefa changed the rules around spreading the cost over contracts, the FA/PL didn't and while they have plans to introduce something similar to uefa there is nothing yet. Meaning the 8 year contracts are the same loophole they used before, but they don't have to worry about complying with Uefa's ffp. So essentially they are going to be doing all their business this year to take advantage of not having European football. There would potentially be a problem next season if they were to gain European football, but in that case they might not have to spend as they'll have a set squad. Big spend now so that they don't have to next year under harsher ffp rules.
Yeah finishing in such a **** position last year was all part of our master plan We didnt want to get into Europe so we could spend hack!
please let that happen. let them on and bring in a 50+1 rule that forces club sell off by thr bad owners and let fan ownership secure the future of English football. we were were reduced to second teir league and Europe is second their then so be it but the saudis won't last long when we literally burn their oil to burn their country in climate terms. none of this is sustainable
Alisson and Salah. Could be genuine. Could also be an attempt to unsettle or players, it's in the interest of Chelsea and Newcastle owners afterall
Indeed. Any player, or their agents, can just come out and rubbish any transfer news immediately and put paid to that.
