How many more outs are we expecting? About 10 hopefully/probably? Lavia - definite Tella - probably but hopefully stay Sulemana - probably but hopefully stay ABK - probably but hopefully stay KWP - probably but hopefully stay Alcaraz - probably but hopefully stay Adams - probably, mixed views on hopefully staying McCarthy - hopefully Lyanco - hopefully Onuachu - hopefully All of those have had or have some links to leaving. Then the ones we’d like to see leave who have had no links: Aribo Djenepo (I expect most want him gone, I’m happy for him to stay tbh) Mara - loan I guess is most peoples preference Then even someone like Stu Armstrong I guess some will want gone and some happy to see him stay, who knows if he wants to stay. Still a lot of work to do based on that, of course not all will leave but could see 7/8 more out the door by the end of the window as not much of an unlikely outcome
Given it’s £100m rising to potentially £115m for Caicedo to match Liverpools bid, presumably this is £50m potentially rising to £60m to match Liverpools bid?
Christ, relegate us now if even half of those first teamers leave. We need to keep Tella, KWP, Sulemana, Alcaraz and Adams IMO. Way too late to be trying to build a squad from nothing.
I think a lot of it now comes down to Martin's interpersonal skills. We've seen Manning and Downes join us, despite interest from Prem clubs. So he's obviously a decent bloke, popular, and somewhat persuasive with his 'vision'. I reckon he will be able to convince the likes of Stu, Che, and hopefully KWP all to stay. Even two from these three would be excellent. I can't see anyone meeting our valuation of Charly. Tella, Sulemana both unknowns. Would love to keep, but are both replaceable for the money we'll receive. The other half dozen will probably be decided on deadline day.
Would like to see more of the players we don’t want shifted now and keeping hold of our better players for this season A few more incomings might help too
No but he got Spurs to the CL final. Minor miracle that. And he did win the French league title with PSG (yes I know, not exactly a challenge). But I'd say he's won at least the same if not more than Klopp.
Klopp got Dortmund to a Champion's League final, which is just as much an achievement as getting Spurs there. Also got Liverpool to three UCL finals, winning one. Got Liverpool their first title in almost 30 years (also finished runners up the season before with 97 points!). Won the Bundesliga a couple of times with Dortmund. Poch's and Klopp's records are not even slightly comparable.
If we can get Lavia done today it would be nice to start getting more of our incoming sorted soon This window is requiring a lot of patience
https://twitter.com/fabrizioromano/status/1691344219493814272?s=46 Another decent signing for Leicester. Cesare Casadei On loan from Chelsea.
Charly seems to be the one in the keep pile who is openly enjoying the football and I think his performance Saturday showed how he would really benefit from a season in the championship. He almost tried to be too clever with a few flicks/tricks. The Wings is the one I can’t call at the moment. Tella I was open to selling in the summer and I’ve not seen much from these first two matches to argue against it(though that’s dependent still on a decent offer) Edozie has to work on end product and for that he needs regular playing time, I think that will improve but as it stands he has two obvious threats. If Sulemana is genuinely injured and comes back, then as our record signing he will have to play. SAA is the real spanner in the works, based on pre-season and the cameo Saturday, it’s going to get increasingly difficult for Martin to resist him starting games in a few months time. Plus there is the option of playing Adam Armstrong or another wide striker type out wide. Think Aribo should be sold regardless. We might need to keep Djenepo if both Sulemana and Tella are sold and we don’t get in a replacement, but we have been linked with a few wide players this window.
Would imagine the Downes deal is announced today, ahead of the fans' forum tonight. Hopefully Lavia's departure, too.
To be honest this season I'm all for hoarding as many wingers as possible. With the new injury time ruling, an additional 15-20 minutes could become the norm, so I think we should go into every game knowing that we will bring two fresh wide men on at the 60 minute mark. The way I see it, it makes sense to start with Stu on the right and Adarma on the left, and then bring on the faster, trickier ones (SAA, Edozie) in the second half when the opposition defenders are tiring. Tella and Sulemana I reckon could both do a job as number 9, particularly - again - in the second half when oppo is tiring.
Just had a little look on the BBC sport rumour roundup. Usually to be taken with a pinch of salt, but I'm going to choose to believe this because I want it to be true. Apparently McCarthy had talks about a move to Luton but that didn't work out. Then reiterrated what I've seen said on here before that Crystal Palace and Everton are interested in him. Be fantatstic to get him off the books and bring in a new GK to compete with Baz. Absolutely no idea who but then I work on beaches not in football.
