Very surprised Kulu’s remained on, Solomon should’ve been on at a similar time Perisic came on. A few looking tired here.
2-2 FT Very good value for the point. Had them pinned back for the overwhelming majority of the game. VDV and Udogie look like incredible prospects. Bissouma and Maddison also very impressive. Son really poor. Kulu worked hard and created as much as he possibly could. Vicario looks to have picked up where Hugo left off in the heart attack department.
Not a bad result and a very promising performance. Still plenty of kinks to be worked out, but the difference in the side is like night and day. Brentford play a low possession game, but they barely touched it in the second half. Bissouma was absolutely dominant and Maddison kept things ticking in attack. Son and Kulusevski were poor, but hopefully they'll improve as things go forward. Emerson had a very mixed game. Heavily involved throughout, though. It's nice to see us playing football again and being an enjoyable watch.
I thought Kulusevski did well considering the circumstances. That whole flank needs a long hard look. Skipp is lost out there and Emerson as we know only does defending and 20-yard screamers. I think there is absolutely no coincidence that since Bentancur picked up his injury, Kulusevski's productivity has shrunk and he looks far less effective.
Point away at Brentford isn’t a bad point at all and I’d have taken that before a ball was kicked, especially knowing we were Kane-less/ adequate striker-less. Some good, bad and ugly. Good: Bissouma, excellent. Udogie, very promising. Maddison, creative. van de Ven, slotted in quickly. Style of play, attacking Bad: Son, carrying on from last season. Kulu, carrying on from last season. Vicario, not convinced at all. Another Gollini. Richarlison, unsurprisingly bad. Ange’s subs or more lack of, Solomon should’ve come on and one or two were puffing at the end which could’ve been replaced. Ugly: VAR, stop killing the game.
A point away to Brentford is not to be sniffed at. Familiar tale for spurs in finding difficulties to score against teams parking the bus. Son is still not captain material. He showed no leadership on field and did not lead by example. His shot on goal was a bit pathetic. Richi is still crap. Some good possession and pressure from spurs but it’s still a work in progress. Solomon should have been brought on in place of Kule as he was tiring. Destiny, Bissouma, VDV looking good. Maddison is the Poundland version of Eriksen but some good touches. Vicario is going to cause us some grief!
Lots to be positive about. Decent result away from home, cheating ref, new manager and a completely different way of playing. Maddison, bissouma and udogie all quality.
Wouldn't disagree with any of this, except for Maddison. But I only watched the last 1/3 of the game. He may have been good earlier. Vicario needs to audition for "Perils of Pauline." Richarlison needs to take up alligator wrestling, free solo climbing, and lawyering for Trump. I really enjoyed watching Udogie, and thought he and Emerson stood out. All in all, about what I would have expected from this manager and this squad. It looks like the rebuild has begun, and that it will be worth watching.
The negatives Richarlison's lack of service. Son doing an impression of himself from last season. Richarlison's first touch. The refs inconsistency with bookings. Richarlison's finishing. Kuluchevski doing an impression of himself from last season. Richarlison being in a spurs shirt. The Var decision for the penalty. Richarlison doing an impression of Fraizer Campbell. Romero's injury. Seeing Pochettino being interviewed as Chelsea manager straight after the final whistle. The positives We scored twice without Kane. Bissouma. Responding to their change of tactics so quickly. VDV only conceding from a very soft penalty and a deflection. Udogie Showed character after going behind. Madison. Attempting to play attacking football (18 attempts, 6 on target). The fans... great hearing Can't Smile Without You on the coverage. COYS
Thought his responding to their 3 subs and tactical change was good...he changed it within 4 minutes and their subs did not change the game their way. Think he was absolutely right to Sub Romero...he reacted worryingly straight after his headed goal.
Is it a prerequisite for pundits calling your team the underdog that your fans have to be utterly ****?
Agreed re his changes. He was initially going to bring on Davies but switched that to Perisic in order to keep giving them problems to think about. Nice to see some proactive subs after years of either reactive ones or none. Also nice to see a manager not afraid to sacrifice his most senior players if their performance justifies it.
