His agent is confident he can get him 300 minutes and unlimited texts for £25.00 a month

I was worried there, unless he was going to take a 90% cut.

What is happening with Barton's contract? We know the Enrique situation but his was agreed nearly a month ago.

  5. Awww man that's shan,
Smithy isn't the most technically gifted player, but he played a good part in our promotion, and is a strong and committed player.
Good enough for a lower PL team and a CC team.

Smithy = Toon legend. Love the man to be honest. Loved when he told that fat **** Bramble to **** off. Bramble may have about 2 stone on him, but Smithy would wipe the floor with that big bollock.

  6. Has Enrique actually agreed to sign a new contract once we're mathematically safe, or is he just saying he'll only consider it

Used to ride BMX when he was younger as well, I was convinced I was gunna be Matt Hoffman when I was a kid! Still, at 70k a week there's only so much sentimentality we can show towards him!

I meant Barton has agreed a deal, but hasnt signed.
Enrique has only agreed to talks when we are safe.

I read today Barton wasn't happy because we only offered him a 2 year extension on his current deal rather than a 5 year deal to see his career out here.

I think I saw that too, why do we think he wont be able to hack it any more at 30? It's not like his game is built around his pace.

But I also remember Barton saying he had agreed in principle to sign a new deal, whether that meant they had worked out the details or not is another thing I suppose.

Smith is good enough in the Championship. His days in the Premier League IMO are over, unless he wants to be a squad player for the rest of his playing days, he'll have to drop a level to get regularplaying time and here we can't offer him that and we can't be affording his wages of 60k(reportedly) a week just to sit on the bench and get the odd start or two because Tiote is MILES ahead of him in that position. I liked him in his Leeds days but since Fergie turned him into a DM he's career has gone downhill, liked him WAY more when he was a energetic and decent-leveled PL striker.

Exactly, Should give him the contract he wants - he's deserved it with this form and willingness to take a pay cut.

Re the Barton contract, there was a story saying that it was only 2 years but no quotes from the player or agent. Which means its drivle.
