You should get more games on TV though Sheff Wed and Plymouth already We get a NOW day pass when we can’t go
What are you saying about the transitions? You mean when we lose the ball? Holy **** is a bit too technical for me
Yeah. When we lose the ball the central midfield was just… well, there wasn’t a central midfield. The full backs are usually pretty high and the midfield isn’t shielding the centre backs properly. So then it’s just like a downhill charge towards Jack and Jan.
That was my biggest criticism of yesterday - until Charles came on we had no one protecting the defence. A good defensive midfielder makes an average defence look good. Not too worried as we are still a work in progress. We have found out how to put the ball in the net too and create.
Happy with Downes and Charles as starting DMs, but we really need to bring in another, and preferably sign a youngster in that area who is happy spending most of his time with the u21s, like Zach Awe/Derrick Abu. Smallbone for me isn't a DM.

Oh, and it makes a dodgy defence look average - I’m still not quite sure which of these we are aiming for
Agreed - no reason for that game by itself to cause worry, because there's little chance of Stu being a permanent fixture for us this season in that position. For me, the season really starts after the international break (which just so happens to be the big fixture vs Leicester). The handful of games before then are more a case of finding our feet, learning the new style, and trying to forget about last season.
Don’t know if anyone’s mentioned yet (haven’t fully caught up on here); last two home league game results! 16 goals. Our new standard!!??
Yeah there’s another bloke there who’s got a good / better view? Of course, he might have been daydreaming tho.
Wonder if that’s ever happened before last home game of one season and first home of the next being 4-4 thrillers. Coincidentally the same ref for both games too.
4 Points from 2 games and we’ve scored 6 goals…and it’s early doors. Imagine what will happen when we hit our stride. Ps please ignore the 5 goals we’ve let in. Details, details
I didn’t go last season. It was too depressing and I couldn’t justify the expense. Getting back in the ground, it was the negative energy of all the people around me who knew better about how to run our team than RM, and who blamed everything we did wrong on Bazunu, who made me question whether I would rather watch it on a stream. I can mute annoying commentators but I can feel myself getting in a fight with some moron at the ground. An example, the twat commentating about how awful we were and how slow we play: Oh look ****ing around with it at the back again. Too slow, getting totally pressed. Just going to lose it. Oh now we go long? Why didn’t we just do that straight away? What a joke. I had to bite my tongue not to turn around and explain in detail how he had just explained what we were trying to do without understanding a word of it. Flat cap wearing bellend.
This seems still very much like an experiment and will until the window closes at the end of September. Until then a chance to get rid of the deadwood bring in the reinforcements Martin needs and then get some consistency. So in the meantime if we can get a couple of decent results at Plymouth and QPR then we will have a good foundation
I think the system we play there is a good chance that the opposition will score but we create a lot more chances for our selves to score. We just need to score more than them simples.
We will give up goals playing the RM style, but I don’t think yesterday was a fair representation of that. I should hope it was more down to the lack of midfield and a bad day at the office for the defence plus in fairness, some clinical finishing from Norwich. We’ll still be learning the system too + we’ve got to pray the new set piece coach can improve things pretty rapidly!
