Hull City boss Liam Rosenior: (On Tufan) He deserves it and I'm so happy for him. "The reason the quality is there is because the fitness is now there - that sums up his attitude. "He is working so hard. He's pressing so hard from the front along with Liam (Delap). And when you work so hard in life, you get the rewards. "I've got to give the players all the credit in the world - they were fantastic from start to finish." Sheffield Wednesday boss Xisco Munoz: "The second half we were very far away from what I want. "I didn't see the balance for a consistent performance, but the situation right now is to control emotions. "We need to control the moments and we need to improve with duels - both in offence and defence. "We needed to improve on many things, but every day we get better and better and get closer, but we need to find a solution. "We need to improve about clean sheets and defensive situations, but this is my job. They called me for this situation, and I will give 100% for the most Massive team in North Derbyshire..."
We bloody well needed that performance, and result. The worst game in recent memory followed by one of the best games 5 days later. If we play like we did today in most games this season we should have a good season. We played well today BUT... Cons... We won't score worldies every game. Need to create more clear cut chances and finish them. We need to cut down on giving silly goals away. We're still doing it time and again and did again today. We played well against a limited side. We will face much more organised sides this season and we need to be capitalising to make the most of small margins. Pros... More players incoming. Doncaster appears to be the rocket up the arse we needed. Moved the ball about a lot faster today in moments and it paid off. Ozan Tufan. General movement from the outfield players was next level compared to the other recent games we've played.
Missed the game as I'm doing a 14km run this morning but just seen the score. Did people boo the players or Liam?
Piss off. Only people that got a birthday letter from the queen remember when the massive were a team to be feared.
Do you enjoy Ozans "SKIP" with a huge grin when Coyle calls his name, 40 secs in Seems well adjusted in the squad
Really brilliant that. Best we've seen of Tufan by far. Obviously the goals (and the second one viewed from behind it in the North stand was one of the most satisfying I can ever remember, there was a second or so where you knew it was in and was an absolute worldie and could just drink in a glorious moment) but his overall performance. Pressing was really good and his buildup play was really good too. Don't remember him ever giving it away which has been his weakness in the past, and there was one really neat sequence in the second half where we were breaking from deep and he dropped a shoulder to go left, pulled everyone that way and then opened up to his right and sprayed a ball out to Coyle just as they were moving across and away from him, really smart play, and that kind of play pulling them about was what killed them in the second half. One of the most complete individual performances I can ever remember. And I say that as someone who's knocked Tufan a lot in the past. It wasn't a perfect team performance, but it was very good in many ways. I worried about the crowd but we did our job. Lovely stuff. Might have been different if Ingram had had to have more of the ball, but as they didn't attack much and we were quite high up he wasn't getting the ball much. The first half overall was still very reminiscent of all those 1-1s against crap sides we had last season, where you felt that we needed to create more for all the dominance of the ball and territory that we'd had. There's certainly still work to do there, but all in good time.
Watched the 20 minute highlights while I wait for the full game replay, and while I know that doesn't tell the full story, I thought even at 0-0 we looked terrific going forward and pressed them well in the final third. Delap could easily have had the opener from Coyle if the ball had been in front of him, and I thought Lokilo looked reasonable from the left too, a big step up from Vaughan against Norwich. Really positive display and even though it was a sloppy goal at the end to concede, it should hopefully quell the doubts for a little while yet. 4 goals at home and Acun will be happy with that sort of display too. If we get Twine and maybe another 1-2 in next week then it really could swing the mood quite quickly.
