It's an catch 22 as a fan because we all really want it to be his season but if it is, then it will most likely be his last season with us.
Today he added good hold-up play, good lay-offs, and best of all coolness in the box especially how he set up Paal for the 2nd, to his natural strength and acceleration. Looks to have learnt a lot this summer. Long may it continue.
A long overdue start for the lad! Disappointing that he was taken off with 20 minutes still to go. Did he look knackered or was GA stupidly trying to shut up shop?
Sat in the home side with a CCFC season ticket holder. Main reason Cardiff played so poorly was because of a fantastic high press by our front line, all together they had no time to create anything. Sinclair ran himself into the ground, he was never going to last 90. He wasn’t ambling around he was flat out chasing everything and fully deserved his goal and surely MoM. After him and Smith came off the press was gone, they could build from the back and were far more dangerous. After all the effort team were totally shot after 70 mins. Superb team effort, they did give everything and fully deserved the win. After last week was expecting an humiliation, awesome performance…..
Wow, who would’ve thought. Xmas in August! 3 points when we didn’t expect it. Well done to the team for picking themselves up and having a go. With the Aussies girls advancing to the semi finals, it’s been a good weekend.
Spent the day in the car, but what a great result. Totally lifted the atmosphere on here, and must have been buzzing on the coach back from the game. Thrilled for Ainsworth that his positivity is paying dividends...long may it continue.
Really good to see that he seems to have progressed so well. Plainly not good enough last season, but this could well be his time. He and Dykes as a front two could upset a few defences in this league.
What a brilliant interview. Delighted he's big enough to admit that he needed to change things. Also pleased to see he's still going to demand some 'fundamentals', as he put it. We need both the GA grit behind the ball and a bit of freedom in attack. I wasn't as negative as some last week, but I'm also not as positive as some today. We beat a very poor Cardiff side. Yes, we can only beat what's in front of us, and I'm delighted tonight, but I won't get carried away until I see us go toe to toe with some better sides.
Sorry Strolls but what the fxxk are u on about? SA should have started games last season, but due to incompetent management he didn't
He wasn't good enough last year, physically or technically. I haven't seen him yet this season but it seems he's progressed a great deal, which is fantastic. Hopefully he'll be a regular starter from now on.
We still need to get in another few in my eyes. Another right back or wing back , Smyth was great there yesterday but if he's out the replacements aren't good enough. Another centre half is a must as Dunne could be out for a while, Salter is a liability and an injury to Cook or Fox and we're ****ed. I'd like another striker in too, and send Kelman back out on loan or sell him, he's not up to this standard. Anyone know why Willock wasn't in the squad ? Injury, leaving or attitude ?
I agree with Stroller on this. Having seen Armstrong last year, he wasn't good enough ...all bluster and speed ( so yes did get a couple of penalties and free kicks) but the end product ( for him and others) was not there. I am sure he has lost a bit of weight and the first goal will help... But it was the bit of thought and split second of time he delayed for Paals goal that was the difference between Armstrong this year and last year...that would not have happened last year. He would of blasted it himself ...or tried to run passed the defender, instead of waiting that split second for the perfect pass. He will grow more with that assist than even his first goal
Did Smyth play right back? I think we've done well in the window, with Fox, Cook and Colback especially. Anything more would be a bonus in our situation. I reckon Willock must be on his way.
Last season he definitely wasn’t up to the standard of starting every match, making 90 minutes or showing the quality needed to be considered for every game. That said would he have come on enough to look different this season without being in the first team squad and getting the time he did? Maybe sometimes you have to take the chance/opportunity to allow a promising youngster minutes, squad time and focus to bring them along. We haven’t really done that with anyone - maybe they weren’t up to it, maybe managers are too afraid to do it because of the results driven business. Great to see SA starting to move on, long may it continue through the season and he bags double figures.
