Unfortunately as much as the women's game has come on, the keepers are still the weak link in most teams. It's still the biggest difference in the womens Vs mens game
Not sure what the issue would be with just making the goals slightly smaller? Not necessarily a reactions thing a size thing though
I have vivid memories of seaman being lobbed in 2002...Let's hope there's no such repeat of that disgusting event today!
It's not easy when a goalkeeper is quite small you could see that in the penalty shootout earlier the goalkeepers were tiny (edit I just saw NTs post)
I've said the same before, but then it makes it harder for the outfield players. So whatever way it is someone loses. The Keepers will get better and we are fortunate to have one of the better ones In Mary. From a GK coaching side of things it's interesting for me as I'm always thinking about ways they could improve the limited spring and athleticism ( in a GK way ) they seem to have.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the average height of a female goalkeeper is around 5 foot 8. Likely a good 6 inches less than a bloke. A slight reduction makes a lot of sense.
Earps is 5ft 8" But it's not just the hight issue, just take a look at their movement & spring when making saves, it's much much less then even the short male keepers.
Gotta say Leah Williamson is a big miss for the ladies but my gawd Millie Bright aint half stepped up, having a great game
They’ve got a few out havent they. Mead and Williamson the 2 stand outs in general so they’re doing well without
Mead took the plaudits in the Euros but it was the skipper Williamson that for me was our player of the tournament
