Except he did the exact same thing at Middlesbrough and they’ve still not recovered. Maybe he’s better at structures of clubs than spotting players suited for the premier league.
Billy you usually make a lot of good points, but on the loan clauses it’s backfired as most of the players he bought last season got one. And even Rodrigo had a release clause if we got relegated which means we got no more than £5m for a real goal scorer and top player. Yes in the last year of his contract but like Mitrovic valued at over £30m as he was in the last year too. Harry Kane last year of his contract £104m. Southampton and Leicester are making a fortune from selling players making around £100m per club, whilst we made fk all in comparison. The loan deals also mean that the players will be even cheaper next season with a year less on the contract. Adams a £45m gone for £20m due to his relegation clause. The club have lost 13 first team players for peanuts. Yes their wages are gone but it’s like being raped
As I always say, couldn't really care less as in the end the players, agents and suits will ultimately strip all the cash away and fans are left picking up the pieces. It's barely a sport anymore, just a business. My remaining interest in football is as a result of the good old days and not since the entry of SKY to completely fck it up. Most young kids now have more interest in playing Fifa than actually properly following a club
Thanks Doc, glad you've joined the conversation Firstly, you simply cannot compare Rodrigo to Mitrovic or Kane ... if the clause was not agreed, Rodrigo would not have signed Secondly, Saints and Leicester are both in huge financial trouble, and they have to sell their best players ... both were more established Prem clubs as well, so more say with contracts ... Saints about to lose Ward-Prowse as well ... if Saints and Leicester don't go up this season, they will be facing serious financial jeopardy and it's not going to be easy to replace the talent they've lost As for Leicester, they lost Tielemans and Coyuncu for fk all, so not that brilliant when they could have sold Tielemans for £50m last Summer but opted to force him to stay and keep them in Prem ... oh dear, that went well
When you sell a player at a reduced rate you get the reduced rate and rid of the wages, with a loan you get rid of the wages only, half of something is still something. None of that dross that Orta bought and took us down are coming back and will never make us any money in return. The players were ****e the contracts were worse! Orta got Gnonto as fourth cjhoice, I know his first was de Ketaleare and look how that panned out for AC. Rutter has £36m of potential ? Even if his only footballing error (and it most certainly was not) was Jesse it was enough of a catastrophic error to get him the sack he deserved. The man is a grifter, did the same at Boro and will do the same at Sevilla
Here's the truth about Gnonto signing ... Leeds had an agreement in place with Zurich for Gnonto to join in the January window ... when it became clear that other clubs were starting to take a look at him because of his displays for Italy, Orta brought the deal forward to secure the player before another club came in with a better offer ... Zurich were delighted as they needed the money, and £5m for Gnonto is genius business Rutter was a similar thing ... Leeds only wanted him this window, but his performances in Germany meant other clubs would be bidding in July, so Orta moved that signing up as well ... his fee was actually £24m with potential add-ons taking it to £35m (Champions Lge qualification, winning Cups, etc) so may never get to £35m When you hate, you hate, regardless ... it must be terrible walking around with so much bile filling you every day ... ignorance is the biggest cause of hate, and not being able to see or acknowledge the good work Orta did for Leeds is, well........
Times are sadly different regarding players loyalty.......well remember Paul madeley saying to Jimmy armfield about a new contract 'put down what you want boss,I don't want to go anywhere else'.....now that is a special player doing the thing that he loved, for the club that he loved, and no doubt compared to many other people was very well paid.... today well let's just say 'it wouldn't happen ' and that's why the game has gone for the most part, now it's vast amounts on mostly only half decent mercenaries who kiss the badge with a 'forked tongue ' ... don't like fakes
So that will be your truth. You of course have access to the inner workings of the board.................... CDK was coming, that is the truth until AC hijacked us out of another Orta masterclass. Ok we'll accept your 'truth' that Rutter was £24m, I'll ask the same again. £24m worth of potential talent.................... My 'hate' is the healthy dose of realism provided by Orta, that is the only truth.
Spot on and as ridiculous as it sounds they are the players I still support. Couldn’t give a damn about the crew of last two decades. Take Archie gray for example. Not gonna get too fond of him as he’ll be gone in two years or sooner. The Philips transfer was the ultimate kick in the gut or wake up call for me
interesting post billy. I’m not sure Barca has given us all the money for raphinah yet and I wonder whether we will see it too. Philips went cheap and there is of course the Kevin Augustin debacle. Some of those are quite major issues, plus what’s happening at the moment with rats jumping ship. Nevertheless a fair few positives, Bielsa being the main one by far.
