I don't think he will be. Kane has been Levy's riot shield for the past 3-4 years. He has nowhere left to hide now. Fail to spend the incoming money on strengthening the team and giving Ange the strongest helping hand he possibly can, and there will be hell to pay. Even PowerSpurs will turn if that happens.
In the past on occasion when Kane has been injured we have played better as a team. Couple that with Ange's attacking football philosophy we could still show up this season and get a result in the league. Everyone is writing us off for top 4 but we still have the bones of a fantastic team.
Bad enough Kane going. But it's the news that Richarlison is healthy that's the killer, for me. On the bright side, if Spurs can invest that 100 million with their accustomed skill, they'll add 1.2 PL goals per year to the squad.
Postecoglou seems like he would be a good manager of young players. If losing Kane begins a clear out of the last generation, the money is invested wisely (in unproven talent, not proven failure), and Postecoglou is given at least a couple of years, Spurs could finally be heading in the right direction. If...
I’d be surprised if we see that. Levy will be looking at the previous £60m spent on Richarlison as part of future planning (Lol), not to mention Maddison + VDV is most of the kane money accounted for. With other clubs now knowing we’re sat on 100m, the rest of our window is paying over inflated prices, or going without.
It’s almost like history repeating itself. Berbatov to Fraizer Campbell. Kane to Richarlison. COYS, Daniel.
I love Kane, but I feel slightly irked when I see takes like this. 9 years of elite performances? Really? Lucas and Son were key in knocking out Ajax and Man City on he way to the champions league final, when Kane was out injured. They were elite performances. Lucas got dropped for the final, all to give Kane a chance to 'win' it for the team. Where was he? Missing. Just as Son and Lucas have been missing sometimes since. For some reason Kane's s(*&shows don't register with most fans and many pundits. When has Kane stepped up in a crunch important match, final or semi-final, and won it for the team when we looked to be out? I love Kane but this idea that we're total crap without him grinds my gears. Along with the idea that he is free from blame for not winning anything. It's giving Gary Neville weasel vibes. Yes, the club failed him, but he also failed the club at key points, as did other players who were on the pitch when we lost certain matches. It's not just Levy. Also, he hasn't done it for England either. Did his country fail him? Did Southgate fail him for not fielding better teams? Should he become a citizen of another country so that he can win things? We just don't speak like that unless we are talking about Spurs. It's weird. Is Levy an A hole for some of his actions and in-actions? Yes. Of course. Personally, a part of me is glad this whole Kane saga is over so we can now go about things with a manager who doesn't feel like he is superior to the club, as even Pochettino and Redknapp ended up feeling, and Conte and Mourinho felt from the jump, and without players who are used as crutches to prop up and paper over cracks in an unbalanced squad. Levy now has to finally put up or shut up. He HAS to back Postecoglou in the way that he should have backed Pochettino. Make Poch vs Post a fair fight when the match up happens. That will be a real test of Levy's call to sack Poch. I live in hope that we acquire new young talent and have a surprisingly good season, I'd also LOVE it if we actually won something without Kane. What he F would the pundits say then? I'd LOVE to see it. I look forward Dane Scarlett's breakthrough season. I believe it is coming within the next three. I also know it's he hope that kills you. Get this Gift Orban guy in, even though I've not heard of him before the window, give Richarlison a kick up the backside, play Son upfront until Richarlison responds to the kick. Get Tapsoba in, plus a new DM and let's go.
here we go again. A section of our fanbase has a penchant for this where they now start acting like our great players were never that great the moment they decide to leave.
Kane has failed in finals and semi finals. He shares some of the blame for not winning trophies. It's been a joy having him in the team, but there is life after.
Well he was injured/ unfit in two of the finals. How many chances did he miss too? If his teammates set him up some chances he might have scored them. Only the penalty vs France is the one semi final he outright bottled. That was actually a quarter final anyway.
What a mess, I feel sorry for Postecoglou, we've gone from a 30 a season striker to a 3 a season striker one day before the new season starts and no skipper
