^This You're not alone Football's being taken over by all sorts of 'villains', SR are nowhere near the worst of those and may be among the best, we'll see
I'm not anti-SR at all. I actually think they'll end up being good owners. Ankersen is a penis though.
I’m not anti SR, but they have a LOT of making up to do. Until we start seeing some positive progress they will be scrutinised at every step.
That is me as a runner in races. I understand the psychology but I'm an amateur and would expect better from professionals.
Afternoon, Gills fan in peace! First and foremost, appreciate you lot going easy on us last night. From a personal point of view I think that is the best performance we have given at home in a few years and more relates to the investment we've received and our manager having a new lease of life, something that I believe @brb referred to earlier. I do want to haste a word of caution to you with regards to your manager Russell Martin. I appreciate its still very early days for you with him as your manager but couldn't help but notice some real similarities in your play last night, to when he was managing MK Dons in League One a couple of years ago. Whilst you no doubt have more talented players then MK Dons had at their disposal, he's continued to utilise the same style of play there, at Swansea and now with yourselves and he very much got found out at League One level and I want to refer you to a game we played against the franchise side. They came out steaming out the blocks with their possession style of football and we had no answer for about 15-20 minutes of the game. Our manager at the time changed the shape, got the team to play higher and then just play an aggressive pressing game and we went from being played off the park to being the better side and comfortably winning 3-1. Last night for me felt very reminiscent of that game and Martin's style of play. If your team can press aggressively, he doesn't seem to have an answer. If a team two leagues below can work that out, then I would be erring on the side of caution for you as frankly you're far too big for the Championship. Anywho please don't take that as a massive criticism but an observation on your manager's style of play and perhaps lacking a Plan B which is something to be mindful of. Best of luck for the rest of the season.
I don't think the system was the issue. Playing 8 wingers, an insane Brazilian centre back, three fullbacks was probably more the issue.
In fairness to RM, MK Dons was his first job, so hopefully he has improved a lot and learned from mistakes etc. But yeah, we've heard all about RM's style of play from Swansea fans and it is a little cause for concern. The main thing we seem to be clinging on to is the fact that our squad is an improvement on Swansea's, plus we have the finances to back RM. I guess this will be the job that really makes or breaks him. Cheers for your insight, appreciated. Good luck this season!
