100% the most difficult position to get quality in and not have your eyes ripped out but most aren’t going into their season with an untested kid as the only option up top, for a club with supposes top 2 ambitions it’s not good enough right now, absolutely over the moon if this leaves me with egg on my face come the end of the season mind

Got a mental day at work today so will be jumping on occasionally in the hope for news of incomings so heres hoping we hear something today

We all agree that a striker is the most important signing, i still feel we still need quite a few signings as dont think we can rely on certain players to make an impact this season.

Im hoping its not just going to be pages of pages to scroll through with the same debates that weve all been having over the last few days about the striker situation (all fair debates tbf). Some will always be in the 'no excuses we needed one 1 before the season started' and others will be in the 'aslong as we bring 1 or 2 quality players in before the end of the window' - then theres the one in between those. We all agree we need at least 1 more striker though, ideally sooner rather than later.

The amount of people ive seen, mostly on social media, already write our season off after 2 games is ridiculous. I get the panic n worry of the lack of strikers but its only been 2 games, the season is still ahead of us

Ill remain positive (as much as a sunderland fan can be) until i see how we look when the window closes

Heres hoping for some positive news today gents

Exactly, thats football - we go on a result by result basis. Its always fine margins, as i said yesterday if neils shot on the last min is an inch the other side of the gk n goes in we are buzzing from a great comeback n things look positive. The 2 performances so far haven't been bad at all, we have just lacked composure/tempo in the final 3rd

I always try n look forward and im still excited for what we are building- we just need more xfactor players that can change a game for us. Heres hoping they come sooner rather than later for all our sakes

Interesting direct quotes from Mowbray in that article that he, his assistant and the first team coaches are in the recruitment meetings and that Harvey and Speakman have loads of options laid out and are working hard. Also that he expects any striker coming in to be a young player and not the finished article.

    Frustrating re: the latter

Mate all I'm saying here is people have spun it as Barnes has STATED there is a rift. He hasn't.

Words matter. In a period where everyone wants the mood at the club to be better, people exaggerating and extrapolating what a commentator has said his opinion is, as fact, doesn't help. Even if he's right. Which I think he probably is.

Because, personally, I think if all was rosey and forgiven on that matter, Mowbray would have enthusiastically said so. He could have put it all to bed with. "nah doesn't matter to me, water off a ducks back." But instead every time he's asked he thoughtfully gives a begrudging answer about having to deal with modern football and this clubs model etc.

I respect that in Tony, by the way. He seems as honest at they come and won't pretend he's enthused about something he isn't.

But him begrudgingly accepting the model isn't going to be sustainable for ue. So he either needs to go and be replaced by somebody who enthusiastically accepts it, or Speakman needs to learn to compromise and flex the execution of his approach. I hope its the compromise that happens.

If it’s someone along the lines of Rusyn/van hoojdonk (apologies for the spelling) I’ll be fairly content both not the finished article but have Atleast got plenty experience in men’s football with a solid goals return don’t think many in the championship can afford a finished article type striker these days, the only finished article type I can think of that’s realistic is Keifer Moore but would imagine he’d have to be a loan due to wages

His first professional game. Gotta trust the scouts. You have no idea how consistent he'll be.

Hemir looked nervous as **** on Sunday. He's 2 goals away from potentially being away. I agree he looks very raw. But 60 mins of a nervous debut is nowhere near enough to write him off as completely out of his depth. Ekwah looked like that when he first played.

All a balance. I don't want the manager nodding along and being best mates with Speakman, it's got to be a challenging relationship. As long as it remains professional and the respect is there, that's fine. What that goes, TM goes

If the re-run of last season continues, our away form was better than our home form.

But LND nor Amad available atm.

To be fair Barnes said it was just his feeling from interviews that stuff wasn't right behind the scenes. When you listen to TM he seems ok, obviously like everybody else we want more attacking options but sometimes it isn't that easy to sign strikers, or should I say decent strikers.

You can say he's miles off after 1 game, the same rubbish was said after Ekwahs first few games

As were Amad, Ekwah...also don't recall anyone being impressed by Stewart after a game or two.
