Dissent / kicking the ball away is one of the things they are clamping down on - so that could be the case.
Having said that, I thought he would get a yellow card ( and as a 2nd yellow - a red ) for the foul before he kicks the ball away.

haven't seen it back but looked very standard "bring player down who's got in front of you". I said "he's off" as soon as he did it.

I watched the 1st half back last night and they did a couple of similar challenges without any punishment.

The lads pretty much jumped ahead of him... One of their lads pulled Roberts back by the shirt without punishment in the 1st half.

If they cracking down on dissent then their keeper should have been given a second yellow for arguing about his booking for time wasting

I think the Stewart and Clarke contract situations are very similar, they are both really happy at the club and were prepared to sign new contracts, their agents however knowing how important they are to the team had told them to hang fire as they would be able to get the a much better deal, however the club have stood strong on their structure making the agents look like fools.
They will probably be now portraying that the club don't know the real value of the player, hopefully the players can see through this.
There's a reason Burnley keep offering around 10M which is well below our valuation, they are being tipped off by someone who only interested in creating interest in Clarke, there was supposedly a few clubs after Stewart but yet none have come forward.
I an still confident both will still sign however no one will be sure how much their agents have gotten in to their heads, problem is they are interested more in the bank balance than their clients future

Absolutely he got booked for not very much but then continues to be worse and the ref let him get away with it. Pointless booking him

Agreed on both points! It's the inconsistencies like this that are so frustrating

My first reaction at the game was that it was for the tackle. However, when I watched a replay yesterday it doesn't look as if the ref went to his pocket UNTIL he kicked the ball away. This is something players are going to have to get used to because it is clear from the amount of players booked for this type of thing already that this is something referees are clamping down on.

Mind, Dermott Gallagher had afew words about our game yesterday on the radio. Red card was as I said. The time wasting he mentioned 1m.35 s for the goal celebration..3m30s for the final two subs by Ipswich and the injured players laying around on the pitch, where the time was not added on to the additional minutes and a few more.

Feels like a lifetime ago when Mowbray said we were close to a few additions up top.

As someone who most definitely not ITK..

However there are a few posters who seem a lot closer to the action as it were.

So can anyone say what are benchmark £s figures for Championship players, both the best, average and mediocre. Wages and selling/buying costs.

I read that Burnley have bid £10m for Clarke (admittedly a Premiership club). Also Maguire is getting £200,000 pw!!!, therefore not like to move until his contract runs out.

Obviously those coming down from Premiership have huge wage bills, compared to us, recently up from the league 1. FFP has put out figures of wages to turnover. Presumably unless the owner is prepared to subsidise losses. We need to operate within limits, which tbf seems where we are at. But that might rule out big buys (unless big sells) and big wages.

So I guess we are fishing in cheaper waters than English football.
