Would many balk at the idea of going with wing backs and 3 CB's to support a young midfield rather than a makeshift one? Yes, it's L2 opposition, but Hartlepool with our second string, albeit a friendly, looked very dysfunctional. Jewi was also getting goals cutting in from the right in pre-season. GK- Bishop LWB- Huggins CB- Triantis CB- Batth CB- Johnson RWB- Gooch CM- Rigg CM- Jobe (Pritchard, up to 45) LW- Ba RW- Bennette ST- Hemir (Dack, up to 45)
Have heard it's: Bishop Johnson Triantis Batth Huggins Ekwah Bennette Pritchard Rigg Taylor Ba Not entirely sure on formation, could easily be 3 at the back with Huggins and Taylor as wing backs. Or Pritch as a false 9 and Ba in behind. Anyway, that's what I've been told
SAFC aren't streaming this by the looks of it ..... I'll have to listen to the commentary by the looks of it
This is silly club really need to sort out its ticketing. Been trying all morning to pick up a couple of tickets for the game saying it’s sold out. I know they won’t open the whole ground so I Presume they just haven’t open Ned up new blocks.
Think cups are quite important for us this season with such a young and inexperienced squad. Easiest way to get a good lot of competitive minutes into Rigg, Triantis, Jewi, Ba etc instead of coming on for the last 15-20 mins plus injury time. Even getting the cobwebs out of Danny Baath would be a huge bonus from tonight.
Agree and I would say unless an exceptional offer comes in I don't think we will sell important players until the model is established and settled.
Had a change of plans and am now available to go tonight, but according to the club it’s sold out? What on earth are they doing over at the ticket office
Not Gooch for Ekwah? Is Mowbray trying to make sure Ekwah stays grounded or something? From the comments on preseason to taking him off on Sunday to now potentially playing him in this game? I’m not necessarily saying it’s a bad thing if it’s needed, Mowbray seems to be a top man manager so I’m sure there’s method to it. Of course equally the comments in preseason may just have been Mowbray being Mowbray, the switch on Sunday tactical (we did wrestle control of the game back soon after the change) and he may be playing tonight as we don’t have anyone else to play centre mid and he played the fewest minutes of the options on Sunday.
Just not sure there is anyone else to play CM unless he plays Dan Neil there. Big gap in the squad with Matete, Evans and Embo injured
It's strange Olly, no seats available but if I sign into my account I can buy seats in the SE corner. I just wonder if they are selling tickets only to people with a membership number. If so the communication is disgraceful. *edit* forgive me in my dotage, I've just realised that's how it has been for years
We really are being run like a non-league club Actually I take that back - my mate is DoF at South Shields and they are brilliantly run
In hindsight not requesting this to be delayed 24 hours so we don't play twice in three days was a bit silly. I know its preferable to have a longer rest before the next game. I guess they hadn't envisaged not making 11 changes tonight. But probably hadn't planned to have just one fit striker. For me the potential benefits of playing Hemir tonight massively outweigh the risks. He looked so nervous on Sunday and I think we have to remember it was his first pro game. That's not his fault. A goal will do him a world of good and he may end up having the immediate impact we hoped.
