I agree with everything there, it doesn't matter that 2 players left unexpectedly they were no spring chickens anyway and we should have had one eye on replacing them. We're all in on a 19 year old with seemingly no back up plan.

Sensing a loan deal in the coming days i feel.

If that were the case who do you fancy as a stop gap given age/experience?

This really wasn't the summer for ****ing about, the competition is going to be far greater than the ****show of last year.

With Newcastle and Man Utd doing very little it was an opportunity and we've blown it.

I think that the stuff about our wage bill being high is a bit misleading. It's high when we are successful because its it has a really high performance based element and when we're not, its low. I bet you last season's wage bill will not be £150m more than Arsenals.

Well, no. They've sold minority stakes in both LFC and the holding company. I am willing to bet they've made back what they paid for club in investment already and probably much more.

I'd agree with all of that.
Pep may well be a great manager, but we'll never know because he's never had to work within a budget and get the best out of limited players.
This is one of the reasons he has a whine now and again, like the one about added time. He knows he has every advantage it's possible to have so he has to manufacture difficulties to make it look like he triumphs over adversity.
Like I said a while back, give him a mid-table club on a limited budget, then let's see if he's really that good.

Still no worried so much on this, the side has no shape. That is far more worrying.

I've gone from thing 4th and europa would be OK for that first team to just hoping anfield drags us through europa to the final.

£150m a year is mental. That’s 3m a week more. Given our total playing wage bill is around 2.5m a week mark I also find it massively hard to believe.

The only explanation for it is either as you say massive performance related stuff.. or what has happened in the past is that we actually pay all our wages of the back office staff and it includes all that where as a lot of other clubs pay them via a 3rd party or as contractors and it’s not included.

BBC saying Newcastle have signed Livramento from Southampton for £40m, so they're not desperate for cash,

Really does it matter what Southampton got?

They are in their rights to negotiate hard.

They are also living on parachute payments and as such know what they need to do on and off the field.

Lava clearly is for sale, same as when coutniho or 50 other of our players mysteriously vanish around the end of Windows etc.

It's only a question of who pays for him

Our total wage bill including all staff is 300 odd million. You have hit the nail on the head, there is a lot of dodgy dealings round stadiums etc.

I'm sure I read we shifted over £1m a week off our wage bill this summer with Milner, Ox, Keta, Bobby, Fab, and Hendo gone. I think somebody pointed out that it's @ £850k less when you factor in the wages of Mac and Slob. I assume Lavia will be £100k+ despite his age too, but nonetheless, we're not that bad when you do a wages-to-earning ratio. We still have lots of wiggle room when it comes to FFP, though as Klopp has pointed out, we simply don't have the finances to be able to pay the like of Mbappe £2m-£3m a week, even with ridiculous shirt sales that would follow.

Klopp's been successful at all the clubs he's been at but it took time to build and implement ideas before getting there. He's never successfully built a second team at the same club but maybe that's down to increased expectations (inevitable) that didn't suit his need for time to build (the bit on bold).

In time, he'll come good again but it seems the fans have become entitled after a few good seasons and they've forgotten what the club was like before Klopp arrived <confused>

I'm not sure anyone is questioning Klopp (bar Diego), he has to be backed in order to succeed - dragging Lavia out for weeks and weeks is a great example of him having to start on the back foot.

I'd say the Hendo and Fabinho bombshells where a bigger impact than the Lavia deal taking so long

Fair enough, but we were one slip away from winning the title in 2014, albeit we came from nowhere on the back of a 13-game 100% run to catch, overhaul, then fall back again against City, and done almost entirely on the back of one of the greatest players ever to play in the Prem (the disloyal little ****). I'd have been fascinated to see how Rogers would have done if he'd got somebody of similar stature to Suarez after he went rather than having Balotteli foisted on to him.

Not sure klopp is totally blameless in that though? He’s had a lot more say in transfer stuff and although isn’t doing the negotiating, I’m sure if he said look he is a must have. Go buy him for 50m they’d have got the deal done.

It just amazes me how it takes a week between each bid being made. If saints are rejecting it almost instantly why does it take us a week to come back to them with a new offer of a couple million more.

We’d be useless at an auction where have to make decisions quickly.
