For me we need 3 players minimum

    An out n out CF
A winger who can play up front as well (aravena or the Ukrainian lad)

It's a disappointing day, a poor 2d half performance and a needless defeat. It means **** all in terms of the season, but we've won 8 home games in the last 25. It's frustrating

I think today showed we could do with an experienced defensive midfielder, just to sit in front of the back four for protection

Their chances came from our sloppiness right across the pitch. Defensively we have looked poor all pre season. We desperately need a defensive midfielder but top really need someone to run into space and beyond the defensive lines. Hemir didn't seem capable of that today

I know it is, but trying to read the thread through (been out) was painful, I gave up after a few pages. So many knee jerk reactions and melodramatic posts.

Just playing Devils advocate here but if we sign an experienced DM then who takes the other midfield spot if Dack plays as the 10? You’re going to have Ekwah, Neil and Bellingham all fighting for 1 place surely?

Without a doubt it's frustrating and annoying to see what happened today. Mowbray will get pelters for preferring O'Nien over Batth, but the club makes it's decisions and stands by them. There will be a reason why Batth is suddenly persona non-gratia and it's likely a data led decision.

Positives - I thought Jobe was very impressive, he has very quick feet and a great football brain. He's 17 and we have to remember that. He will make mistakes, he will drift out of games, but his potential is massive. Ekwah was excellent again today, we have found an absolute gem in this kid.

Negatives - Full backs were poor, but got no support from their wingers. O'Nien totally out of his depth against Hirst and I though Ballard could have supported him more. Too many loose touches from O9. Wingers were poor, Clarke and Roberts trying to take on the entire team when a pass or a cross was the better option. Hemir looks lazy as **** - Mowbray has alluded to this already. He needs to step up his work rate.

Is the CDM cover for Neil or do you think we need an upgrade on him?

I thought Ekwah was arguably the best player on the pitch in the first half playing that role. I prefer to see him playing box to box, though. I honestly don’t think there’s many better than him in the league, I rate him that highly.

I think a full back going onto midfield is the modern coaching way. Blame Pep G p

To challenge neil or at times to play with neil n ekwah. Ekwah was good in possession but his covering of space was poor at times - thats why im with you n think hes best as a box to box midfielder

Neil also looked better when he played deeper. We wont sign an upgrade on neil imo, honestly rate him so highly n think he will be up there with the best cms in the league this yr. Thought last yr he was class most of the season, he had 1 bad patch where he really struggled.

I think the way we play means we are always going to be weak in defence, It's like 2-0-9 formation at times. That's ok, as long as we score more that the opposition.......
