This is where patience might pay off. Firest will name their 25 mam squad. O'Brien will request a move. Forest need rid of him and a bid of 5 million might be enough come the last day of the window. Maybe we could get him on loan for 1 miilion with an option to buy next summer. To get that type of deal we have to wait until Forest and O'Brien are desperate for something to happen.
We won't 'lose out' because we will get our money back on him. I doubt he's played enough to activate any add ons to his deal to come here so we might make a small profit.
O’Brian had apparently agreed a deal with Corberan and WBA as he played under Corberan at the dogz. The blunts tried to get him on loan though and were told buy only and £10m
If the relegation gets activated meaning cash all up front and the player agrees personal terms. Leeds would be allowed to deal with other clubs who could match or increase the players personal terms. Leeds could then offer more favourable terms than all up front. Adams would need to find out how many games he would start for Chelsea….. yeah clutching at straws here
Bidding war? They all offer the exact same amount and he gets to choose, there is no such thing as a bidding war if there is a release fee clause Edit Just read further down sorry Emu
It will be a shame to lose Adams, but it was a bit of a pipe dream hoping we could hold on to him. It might be a positive for us, he wasn’t going to play in August, the fee we receive might be handy to get a couple of targets over the line. We might lose Adams and gain a couple of players who could make a difference in August. Sad he couldn’t be persuaded but not surprised
Any bid that meets the release figure (lets say 22 million) lets the clubs talk to Adams. Leeds HAVE to agree to that figure from any team. Not sure anyone else would bid higher. Maybe Orta at Sevilla? Then it's about clubs convincing Adams to join them. That would boil down to wages and signing on fees. There is no reason that clubs would offer Leeds more money when they need it to pay the player. It's not a great clause but it's not the worst either.
Chelsea off £50m Liverpool offer £20m Both activate the release fee so he’s free to choose. He might choose Liverpool. Chelsea would be better offering £20m the same and instead offer Adams £10m extra in wages.
If Adams gets to choose which club based upon playing time guarantees and wages. Leeds could open up the field by offering better payment terms for a higher fee. Newcastle for example may not want to pay £20m all up front but would pay £25m in 3 tranches so as long as Adams wants to go there…….
Yes but he wasn’t a release fee, he was just refusing a new contract. I think there was a gentleman’s agreement too, keep us up and we’ll grant you the move you want
That would be Liverpool then. For me though he's not a CL club quality, or at least not from what I saw, wonders too much, leaves gaps for opposition to attack, needs better discipline in a positional sense, which a better coach may bring though
I feared what Rapha would be like on our last game of the season, relegated he’d get his cut price fee to Barca, but he played like a demon and kept us up, which meant keeping his fee high so I’ve no complaints with him. Compare that to last seasons ****ers who had no fight or compassion knowing they had loan releases, I don’t mind this reset, the atmosphere must have been toxic. If Adams wants out get him gone too. It will be interesting if we see Gnonto getting game time, if not I feel he’s next out the door. I think we need a couple of large transfer exits to bring in 2-3 that we are after
