1-1 would have felt like a loss based on the first half chances so relieved goal machine Adam got the winner
Totally different playing style to the start of last season, and more importantly, totally different attitude by the players. We should have won quite comfortably but a super save and the woodwork made it too close. McLean was outstanding.
Could be that new rule came into play. Hull had a chance to clear it, so no off sides? I'll let you guys figure it out.
Match Stats The BBC had 28 shots, 5 on target. It's the attacking stats at the bottom that are really impressive. The xG stats are also interesting.
So did City! The BBC match report: "Substitute Adam Idah scored a 96th-minute winner as Norwich City came from behind to break Hull City's stubborn resistance and earn a deserved victory at Carrow Road. Idah toe-poked the ball in 10 minutes after coming on following a goalmouth scramble as the mounting home pressure finally told. Liam Delap's debut strike gave the Tigers the lead against the run of play as they chased a first away victory in 11 matches. But, the excellent Jonathan Rowe's first senior goal levelled scores deep into first-half stoppage time."
From the highlights, there doesn't seem any doubt about Idah's goal. Well done the officials. Also, good on Stroud for applying the new rules on dissent and added time. He did, though, miss what looked to be a penalty when the defender blocked Argos's attempted cross with his arm. [Edit] It was Rowe, not Argos, involved in the penalty incident.
Went and check the Hull board to see what they thought of it. Came away with the conclusion that I'm very glad I don't mod over there
Also might have been discussed on here, but great to see Barnes go right over to Idah and Sargent to celebrate with them at the whistle. Good to see some togetherness from the strikers from Game 1.
There were some such minutes earlier, one after Rowe made a brilliant run into the box but failed to get the ball across. Barnes had a word with him. There was another such moment after Rowe's excellent goal when the warmth was obvious. Duffy had some similar moments with younger players which has to be good for team spirit. Again the celebrations after Idah's goal reflected a warmth and team spirit. Early days, but the signs are good.
Good angle from the Hull supporters for checking any offside from the initial Nunez cross, I think Idah is on, regardless of first touch/intent. The Hull fan commentary is nice to hear too...
