I watched a bit of it and Soton were clearly the better team but Brum had some good chances and were much better in the 2nd half. It's a shame they couldn't hang on for a point. You have to take into account that last season these teams were two divisions apart.
Southampton racked up 991 successful passes apparently. They did keep the ball impressively during 9 minutes of injury time with Sheff Wed hardly getting a kick. He's got his old team Norwich at home next week. Perhaps more interesting was the new 'rules' for this season. Players will get booked for kicking the ball away after a foul. Keepers will get booked much quicker for wasting time at goal kicks . 6-9 mins added time for both halves will become the norm.
I didn't watch it in the end, other things to do (yes Dear ) but as Glam said, these sides were two divisions apart last season and S'ampton (I couldn't be bothered to type the full name yet I've written this long explanation explaining why ). Also S'ampton have Prem players ("until sold" - Taff). It'll be a good few weeks until we get some idea of how the Div's shaping up, I just hope we can get a good start. I still feel confident for a good season... bring it on!
I would have thought the idea is to speed up the game, so less added time? Unless you're implying the players are too stupid to catch on and there's added time for all the cards!
I think they add on time for goal celebrations, substitutions, injuries etc etc which is going to up the added time?

They're going for it alright. Obviously a massive gamble if they're not promoted. If the div's on a par with recent seasons though then they have a chance. Jackpot or bust!
Have been saying for years, why don’t football do what rugby does and have a proper time keeper off the pitch and just let the ref ref and not worry about time. All that time keeper needs to do is actually stop the clock rather than adding on time at the end. Problem solved, waste as much time as you want as the clock has stopped.

Sort of negates what I said but yes, there could be a gap between the playoff spots and the rest of the table this season. Hopefully we're in there.
