Last season I made a throw away comment that Sheff Wed defence was better than ours and we should have just bought their back 4 in January. It was tongue in cheek but that back 4 unit impress me every time I see them. Individually not great but as a unit....

Wednesday are just big lumps all over the field so typical non PL players.

The key to our success this season will be the wide areas as it was with Bielsa, with the main difference being we have far more quality on the flanks now than then.

Those 4 big lumps at the back make a very good shield. They are a team within a team.

Our back 4 last year were much more talented but they never gelled together and played as individuals.

Much easier to rely on shape and structure in L1 than being up against some of the best attacking players in the world when you're in the PL.

Yeah, I understand that but it will be interesting to see how our back line of Meslier, Ayling, Cooper, Struijk and Hjelde look at this level. Personally I think they'll still conced a **** load.

Championship is mental. Sheff Wed 1-1 Southampton. Lol

And that's the Championship for you.

Pressure from long balls and set pieces must be defended or avoided.

That's what frightens me with our back line.

    Loving the Championship already.

    No VAR.

    Strong refereeing.

Yellow cards for kicking the ball away.

Plenty of added time for timewasting.

Yeh but as I said earlier in the week we'll only concede the same as everyone and not twice as many like in the PL.

Che Adams. Apparently not good enough for us.

Any idea who is going to score our goals Jamster as we need to score more than we concede and need between 70 and 100 to win the league. Theres your problem mate and I dont see anyone breaking their neck bringing a striker in

Yes I prefer our business kept quiet but this is a silent movie. Orta would have had private jets on runways by now <laugh>

Top paragraph... that's the giant problem. Bamford has never been a notorious goal scorer. Rutter doesn't score many and Joffy maybe not as good as we all first thought.

Piroe seems to want to run his contract down as Swansea so he looks like a no go whilst Kaba looks like he's gonna score 15 to 20 goals according to last seasons stats.

It's a fair question and we will have to wait and see.

Hopefully Bamford, Rutter, Sinisterra, Harrison, Summerville, Gnonto & Dan James can between them do the business.

2-1 Saints then and they're off and running.

Good game and one of those you need to win if you're going to get automatic promotion.

    Sinesterra 12
    Gnonto 12
    James 6
    Summerville 12
    Bamford 14
    Rutter 10
    Harrison 10
    Gelhardt 2
    Defenders 5 goals

    83 Goals easy

Thing is, we will sign more players, we have no idea who will score or miss, but what odds individually would each of those I’ve listed as double figures be not to get it.

We dont know how many of these will still be here at the end of the month. Like I said in the OP we don’t know our squad yet which seems a bit of a joke with our first game in a few hours time. Don’t think it’s good enough sitting with fingers crossed. Wait and see doesn’t cut it mate

Would you rather be Swansea or Coventry and your entire hopes of survival based on holding on to one player. We could easily be stronger selling Harrison and Gnonto and investing in a new striker. If we’d just signed Poveda, James, Drameh and Gyabi last week most would be ecstatic. Even with the injuries we have a strong starting 11 and it’s only going to get better. If we sell Adams we haven’t started with him, if we keep him our midfield suddenly looks immense.

I’d prefer us to be patient and get the ones we want rather than find out we have another McKennie, Aaronson, Augustin

Gyabi is a dud and so is Poveda.. James is not prem standard.. Harrison is slow. He will be off soon as he is fit.
