FFS Rich, you could have let us think we had our next new striker for a few hours couldn’t you ? Still if Exeter want £1M and we offered £500K there might be room for negotiation. The fact is we desperately need another quality striker and we probably won’t be able to get one of those cheap from anywhere.
I seriously think the new owners are approaching the challenge in the correct way - it’s not a five minute fix and although some appear to be wealthy they’re wealthy for a reason , they’re not stupid ! Time and patience is required
Precisely my view. We have been crying out for decent ownership for years, and that will mean a budget and a planned strategy. From snippets I have heard, it also won't mean promising instant fixes and unrealistic promotions. The manager said they will need to thin out the squad before we get anyone else in. That's fine - a few loans to guage whether some of the youngsters are going to be ready to join the first team is fine by me, and there are a couple of players we can probably off load if we can get better before the window shuts.
Our squad is already so thin we shipped 3 goals against a L2 team in 17 minutes yesterday. I fear it's going to be the same old story. A strong best XI that never actually plays a match together, as half of them are injured at any given time.
To be fair I only said we had a chance that competent people might get recruitment jobs. It didn't happen. But that's hardly my fault. And it was never going to happen if Sandgaard had continued to run the Club. EDIT: Some unnecessary additional reaction removed The hour was late and... well never mind
I agree with you here, your post was correct and not controversial. Tomorrow is another day, and we're still all friends together.
