Good Morning. It's Friday 4th August, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

Could mega bucks deal tempt Cooper away from ER

Leeds Utd Captain Liam Cooper could sensationally quit Elland Road, and join Joel Robles at Al Qadsiah, if reports in the press are to be believed.

The Saudi outfit are managed by former Leeds and England striker Robbie Fowler. They play their football in Al-Khobar, a Saudi Arabian City on the Arabian Gulf, and have a large and luxurious waterfront area.

Coops, 32 this month, has just twelve months left on his Elland Road contract, and is unlikely to be renewed. At the stage of his career, opportunities for a big pay day are going to be few and far between, yet the love he has for the club he has spent almost a decade with, will surely come into play.

Leeds still have the third highest wage bill in the Championship

Leeds still have the third highest wage bill in the Championship, even after the departure of ten players, with more reported to be heading for the exit door before the end of the transfer window, four weeks today. Leicester City are the highest wage earners at £62.6m, whilst Plymouth Argyle are the lowest at just £2.2m.

Southampton's wage bill is just over £10m shy of the Foxes at £52.1m, with Leeds not far behind at £44.6m. Following relegation, all Leeds players will have their salaries slashed by between 50% - 60%, which is believed to coincide with the start of the Championship campaign this weekend.

    Match officials announced

The match officials for Sunday's season opener against Cardiff City have been announced, with Josh Smith named as the referee.

Smith is one of the youngest adjudicators in the professional game, having started refereeing in 2006, at the age of just 14. This will only be the second time he takes charge of a Leeds game. He officiated the 3-1 victory over Accrington Stanley in the FA Cup Fourth Round in January.

Matthew Jones & Sam Lewis will be the assistant referee's with Jeremy Simpson acting as fourth official.

Chelsea feeder club Brighton have sold their keeper to Chelsea for £25m which means Meslier isn’t going there, so where is he going because Darlow starts.

Story going around that Cooper has taken the money and will be gone this weekend and remember the Saudis can carry on buying players to the end of September which can kill so of our clubs if they lose players after our window closes

Is Ayling going as well?. Is that why byram might be given a contract. Surely we will find out today who is injured and also leaving. If cooper goes we have no one at left centre back who is any good.

I went on a stag do once. The original plan forwarded was for Vegas, then after several re-appraisals it ended up in Norwich. I feel a similar inevitability about Meslier’s likely next move.

Byram can do a Dallas and play that ‘inverted’ left back role. Suspect they see him as an option on both sides…

… for the two weeks before he gets crocked

Coops has got a mega bucks deal to end his career it would be silly for him not to take it. has a year left on his contract here in which would he be with us next season if we go up? I very much doubt it he will end up trawling the lower divisions.. any man would take it. He's Leeds he knows what the badge means and its also the wrong time for us as a club but sometimes a golden carrot comes dangling and at 32 he really should take it.

Agree with this and in fairness we should already have got rid of Ayling and even Dallas if he was fit. Forshaw refused our deal in favour of Saudi but the way we clung onto these guys has cost us big time. They were great for us but we should have weaned ourselves off them over the last 2 seasons and because we didn’t upgrade we are now stuck with them back down in the championship. Older and slower and more liable to injuries…..

If Cooper goes we can’t be selling Hjelde as he is a left side CB

I think we need a centre back in still. An experienced player even if cooper stays.

    Morning all

In the famous words of Liam Cooper 'If You don't want to be here **** off.'

I don't blame him for going. He's in his 30s and this is going to be a giant day for him.

However I do blame the idiots who are running this club for letting this happen so close to the start of the season. If the stories are true he'll be gone by Sunday leaving us with Cresswell and Strujk and no CB sub if Farke is using Hjelde as a LB.

Finding a replacement for Cooper won't be difficult, especially a loan.

Despite the oracle of Elland saying yes. The answer is no. There's been no official announcement yet and last time I checked the news was saying that the club were still considering a contract.

Ok we'll need to identify, agree terms, agree on a loan or sale with the parent club and do a medical in 48 hours. Let's face it with the speed the 49ers go at we might be signing them by November. The almighty saviors do realize we have transfer windows in football and we aren't trading them for another player and a Saudi draft pick.

On for that subject. Where the **** is Dennis, Phillips and Kamara?
