Our car is crashing rather quickly I’d say. The driver insists things are going well though despite having two bust tyres and JCS dead in the passenger seat.
I doubt it’s deliberately disruptive. They will have failed to get one or more other targets for that position and Field is number xx on their list. The timing is down to the stupid way the window is open way into the season. If true hopefully the price is good. Best to sell him while he has value, which may not be the case in a year’s time…..
It's not Beales fault We were **** before he got here Not brilliant whilst he was here **** since he left The problems lie deeper than beale
Doesn’t look like Rangers are spending big. A few relatively low level signings plus freebies. Field has a year left so I think anything from £3m minus WBA’s cut and he’s gone. I’m amazed we’ve held onto Chair this long.
The problem is we continued with GA into this season. His league stats for us last season were played 13, lost 8, drew 2, won 3. No other club would have kept a manager on that form and the style of play was horrendous. The matches we won we had 20% possession. I can’t imagine he gets much respect from the players and I can understand why any player would look at their options.
But that’s not the whole story is it? To modify the car crash analogy GA inherited an old tanker heading straight for the rocks and somehow managed to put the brakes on in time. Whether it was Dickie’s defensive display against Burnley or Chris Martin finally finding a yard in the Burnley box, there was something miraculous about it for which GA deserves credit. Of course the opta supercomputer predicts we’ll go down based on last season’s stats, we were terrible even before Beale left, but football doesn’t play to a script which is why we come back year after year. And if Luton can get to the premier league, literally anything is possible.
I think the club's current plan is just to hang on and hopefully avoid relegation. I can't see anything changing in the foreseeable future and our owners seem very quiet at the moment. Unless something drastic happens around our ownership it looks like we'll be treading water for years to come.
Feels like there’s a ****load of stuff going on behind the scenes at HQ. Looking for investment. Crazy debt. Cancelling deals at the last minute. Radio silence from the board. Doesn’t feel right.
Old but apparently gold..... "With injuries rife at Loftus Road and a general lack of depth, Gareth Ainsworth should make a move for Daniel Ayala Ayala is only 32 years of age which means he still has something left to give at Championship level, even though his injury record is very patchy. Should Ainsworth want to play a back three at any time, then Ayala with Dunne and Clarke-Salter or Fox either side of him would prove to be very solid, but even in a back four he would be a useful addition. The only glaring issue with bringing him in now without a pre-season under his belt is that he may need weeks to get upto speed with the Championship, but it may be worth just taking a punt on the 6 ft 3 in Spanish central defender on a free." Football League World - no idea either, another cut & paste site The above notwithstanding, this chap meets all the classic R's criteria - ageing yet sporting good hair, injury prone, a million miles from being match fit, What could possibly go wrong?
So Mansfield are more attractive than us now lol ! Jeez, what is going on ? Obviously couldn't stump up the 350k for the Wycombe defender that Ainsworth wanted, and now we can't convince anyone to join us ahead of League 1 or 2 sides ! These have to be just about the grimest times in recent history.
Not sure we were ever really in for him apart from people putting 2+2 together and getting five. He’s from near there and he’s ****.
Well , we were definitely in for the Wycombe lad, and they wanted 350k for him. We dillied and dallied, and decided we could only afford 200 quid and a twix. So we pulled out of that deal and started looking at every possible centre half who was over 32 and not getting a game anywhere. This narrowed it down to 4 that are either without a club and are as fit as me, or they just haven't played for ages like Cook at Forest. Once he says to us he'd rather stay there on those wages and not play, we're left with the ex miner who plays every Sunday for Raynes Park Casuals who is only 48 and only demands a hot soup and a Yorkie every game ! Happy days
Yeah I’m not saying it’s a good situation at all and if we really wanted Knight and couldn’t agree a fee and/or terms on a guy probably on no more than a couple of grand a week now it demonstrates how in the **** we are with the Eze money leaving the FFP coffers. But Flint wasn’t the answer. I don’t think Cook is either.
